Hi everyone, I just joined and this is my first post.

I'm looking for a good deal on a muzzleloader for a friend of mine. I found a Traditions .50 cal Thunderbolt with a nickel barrel for $130. Is this a good buy? How is the quality? I've been shooting a TC Black Diamond with a stainless barrel for about 7 years so that's my frame of reference.

Here are the specs:

  • Rugged synthetic black stock, with rubber recoil pad
  • 24" nickel performance barrel supperts the use of both standard and magnum powder charges. Has 1 in 28" twist rate to maximize ballistic accuracy
  • 1-Pc., 209 breech plug is used to give you a super-hot quick-fire ignition in even the dampest conditions
  • Highly visible Lite Opticâ„¢ adjustable sights. Receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope
  • Quick release blued steel bolt allows you to break the gun down for easy cleaning at the end of the day
  • Quiet thumb saftey
  • Tapped synthetic ramrod. Sling swivel studs
  • Measures 43" long. Weighs 6 lbs., 12 ozs.
