257bob
I believe I would find a used remington long action in the $200 range, rebarrel it to 280 Ackley (sorry not your exact cartridge choices) $1000, then top it with a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 $300, until I could get another budget to upgrade the scope. bowana
I would find a used 3006 on the Net I would find a used Rem Mod 700 long action on the net, buy a HS precision stock and timmney trigger. Then I would sent the rifle to Kreiger and have a 30-06 Ackley (40 degree shoulder) chamber and barrel installed. Then I would top it with a Leupold 3.5x10 VarixII scope. Should come in around 15-1700 dollars. A tack driver.
Guest kaleb
I like all the guns that have been mentioned. I have most of them with leupold vx2's and vx3's on everything I have. That being said I agree 120% with buying a used remington 700. Then choose somewhere to send it like carolina precision rifles or clio's gunsmithing in south al, and let them toy with it. They can true the action, correct headspace, work your trigger down to about 2 pounds, and bed your stock, or bed a new stock. If their is enough money left I would put a leupold vxL on it. I'm pretty shure you will have enough left for a vx3. That would be a lot of gun for 1500.
98chevy
Mine would be a styer with bushnell or leupold on it. Now saying that ive always been told to buy the most expensive scope you can afford then pick your rifle. I dont know how true it is. In my little arsinal. I have 3 styers 7mag with a boush&lomb 30-06 with a swarski and 300 with a ziess. I love these guns and all of them have 54mm scopes so There great setups.
