Since I Paper Tuned

Last night I went out shooting. Shot 5 arrows at 15 yards, all in the same dot all toughing each other. Then I shot 5 arrows at 25 yards, again all in the same dot, four of the five were touching each other, the fifth one was about an inch from the rest. Moved back to 35 yards, all five in the dot, only two were touching. At 45 yards, I got three in the dot, the other two were just outside, none touching. The dot I have on my block is 4" in diameter. LOL! It was a plastic cup I used to draw it on the other side. Think I am good to go now! But I really want to practice more at longer ranges.

This has made me a believer that you must paper tune your bow to get better results! I should have done this sooner! Steve brought this to my attention a few weeks ago with his post, Thank you!

Keep practicing you'll get better .... :p:D;)

Someday you'll be better than me ... :D:rolleyes:

Sounds as if tho you have that bow singing the good ol' death song.....:)

LOL! Well I know I need to keep practicing. All I am saying, what a difference I see in the way this bow is shooting since I paper tuned. Groups got real tight! Which is what I meant about this post! Not trying to hit lifesavers like Randy O., just deer! LOL!

Dang gum it, you have to keep talking about how great paper tunning worked for you, and all I want to do is paper tune my bow.....:(:)

One problem I need something to hold the paper and I just haven't figured anything out yet..... I could build something I know that, but I know I have something laying around that I could use....

I like to practice those LONGER ranges, makes those close shots so much easier. Keep shooting that 45 yards as those groups tighten just think how easy 25 and 15 yards will be. :):)

The reason I talk about it is there are no pro-shops around here unless I want to drive 30+ miles, and I don't! LOL! So unless its something I really cant do myself, then I have no choice. But some of this stuff I never done before. Learned in here and other boards. I just glad places like this exist for the info! ;) I wasn't trying to brag, just amazed as to what I am doing with my bow, and how well its been working so far!

Think of something, it only has to hold a piece of 8.5" x 11" paper! LOL! Take a cardboard box and cut a hole slightly smaller than a piece of printer paper. Cut the opposite side off completely. Set it about three feet in front of your target. Or get a bigger piece of cardboard and just prop it up with something, again with a hole for the paper.

15 and 25 yards are easy for me now! LOL! Ok......I am bragging a little now!

Great job John, sounds like your getting her dialed in good.

One idea to make a paper tune test stand is PVC pipe. Its relatively cheap. Get some pipe and some 90 degree elbows and make a quick stand. Push the PVC into the ground and tape some paper the the cross bar.

Basically making an upside down U You can make a ton of great things with PVC pipe! Good luck!

I take a cardboard box and fold the top and bottom in. Then take freezer paper and tape up one side with clear shipping tape. Place it on top of a table with my block about 36 inches behind it. So just shoot through the box.

Works well.

i heard about this paper tuning thing and tried it myself at home. Couldnt get it to shoot perfectly straight which was really bothering me. Went to a little pro shop and told a guy that i wanted to paper tune it up and he went through everything and got it about right but it was still off so we started shoting differnet grain heads and stuff like that . Long story short i ended up buying 6 carbon express CX 200s because they shot a perfect hole through the paper. Turned out the arrow i was shooting was to heavy for my bow. Now im shooting 291 fps and is straight as can be !!!!!
