rhine16
Was it just me, or was there a men's fastpitch softball game between Japan and the US on ESPN yesterday? That may have topped the wierdest thing in sports list for me. WOW! It was the same exact rules and distances as the women play, except for it was 30 year old men. I just thought it was kinda wierd. Guest Finn
I used to play fastpitch back in Wisconsin. That's a great game! My uncle was a top 5 pitcher in the state...he threw 85 mph. I caught him one tournament and by Sunday, could barely grip the bat Never saw men's on TV before though
rhine16
wow, well i'd never heard of men playing it. Yes it was on tv, think it was the world cup. Not sure. It's always looked like fun. Always wanted to try to hit off of Cat Osterman, or Monica Abbott, or Jennie Finch()!
Guest Finn
Prefer Cat and Jennie, but yes, it would be tough to concentrate
Tominator
Didn't catch the game, but I can relate. I coached girls high school for 5 years. Some of those girls could bring it. Girl I coached threw in the low to mid 60's. Got to meet Lisa Fernandez, Dot Richardson, Daugherty, Jennie Finch and a few others at coach's clinics. Fernandez and Richardson brought their gold medals from the Atlanta Olympics--very cool.
DSGB
Yeah, I saw it and thought it was women's softball, but knew they had already played earlier. When I realized it was men, I was like, "What the heck?" I thought it was kinda odd, too.
texastrophies
I watched most of that game, it was alright, but did not quite have the same feel or intensity as the women's softball does. A couple of years ago I played in a co-ed slow pitch team with Christa Williams, who was a pichter on 2 Olympic Gold medal teams. She pitched to us a few times, no hits by anyone.
