Sam16
I just got back from my farm after checking on my small hunting plots. The concensus is that the brassicas seem to be coming up fine, but there are areas where weeds are taking over. The Brassicas are only about 3-5 inches tall and are only 3 weeks old. Would it be beneficial to weed whack the small areas or would that actually do more harm than good to my young plants? Also i've noticed the clover i mixed in is only growing in the more shaded areas, and the brassicas only in the sun. I cant find any clover in the middle of my plot, just on the outsides by the treeline? Is that normal? Anyways, on my next trip up to the farm i'm going to overseed the bare areas with some Thro N' Gro to fill it in. I know mowing is a good way to reduce weeds when the plot is a little older, but im scared of destroying my young plot. Let me know what you think, and soon, i'm going back in a couple of days. Thanks for the help with my first plots guys, you've made it much easier on me. Hopefully it'll come together.
Ravin R10 man
a weed whacker would do it..you can keep your loss of plants to a minimum...filling in those bare spots will work too..as long as you get rain...probably why the clover never came up out in the middle, was it dry the last 3 weeks there? other wise it could have drowned out if wet. Sam16
As for the clover, it's been very wet here lately. We got a storm with a couple of inches along with a few other storms in the past few weeks. My only thought is that maybe it just took the clover longer to establish since it's a perennial. Again, just a thought. Thanks oneida
