I got the info sheet in the mail the other day for the 2007 youth weekend. ...and what did it say on the top?

2007 RESIDENT YOUTH EITHER-SEX DEER PERMIT

...it's about time! It's always been "doe only" up to this point. I always thought it was ridiculous because the point is to get young kids interested in hunting. Imagine a kid out for his/her first hunt, and a nice buck walks within range and you have to tell them they can't shoot it. That would discourage me if i was a kid.

So kudos to the Illinois DNR! This is a great change!

Here in PA we have a youth season that is linked with the last 3 days of the early muzzleloader season which is doe only. I only did the youth season once. now I archery hunt during the week and just use the muzzleloader on saturday. This is the first year I can't do the youth season:)
