Guest Andrea
I sliced my leg open this morning on some of the tin that we put on our roof. ( I picked up a sheet to move it and bumped it on my lower leg just above the ankle) Bled pretty bad so I figured on stitches. But the pharmacist said to super glue it. So we washed it out with peroxide, put Neosporin it, held it together and glued it. He said that's what they would have done at the ER. Works pretty well. Didn't even sting when they put the glue on. My leg is sore though. Never again will I mess with that stupid tin though. Somebody else can move it. Dang, I shoulda taken some pics....but really wasn't thinking about it at the time. When it starts to heal some I will. No way I would take the bandages off right now.
Jeramie
Thats where the liquid bandaid concept came from! A lot of people use super glue. Btw, watch out! That tin can be just like a knife. No you know why guys refuse to handle that stuff in the wind.

It sounds as though you took good care of your wound. Just a few thoughts that the nurse in me can't help but share - depending upon how deep the cut was, not initially closing it (with glue or stitches) may have been another recommendation. This is done in order to prevent infection by not "closing it in", so to speak. Have you had a tetanus shot in the last ten years? You strike me as a smart lady, so forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, but, should your leg become swollen, hard, red and/or hot to touch, please make that ER trip afterall. And, I agree, let someone else handle that darn tin. You have better things to do, like post threads or coordinate colors of siding and shutters. Deb
I cringe when I think about getting cut like that. Hope it heals well. Outdoorgirl is right, you better be careful about posting body part pics.........these guys like to have fun!

Outdoorgirl is right, you better be careful about posting body part pics.........these guys like to have fun! Ouch! Glad it didn't cut a tendon! Gotta agree with the above. Buckee is already taking female hormones. Having female body parts to stick his face on, would be simply too much temptation for some. Tominator
Don't know if it's true or not, but like Jeramie said, I think superglue got its start as an alternative to stitches. I watched a doc glue my son's head once. Purple stuff. worked pretty well. He said it works very well where you can keep the skin from separating. Steven
I used to cut myself all the time on job sites and once I was out of liquid skin, so i got some PVC cement from a plumber. Talk about stinging! But, it worked, and I never ran out again.

wtnhunt
Thats where the liquid bandaid concept came from! A lot of people use super glue. Pretty sure I have heard this before too. Hope the cut heals up quick Andrea. That metal can be pretty nasty. Like John said, might want to get a tetanus shot if it has been very long since the last time you had one. Shaun_300
Ouch! That stinks Andrea. I use superglue sometimes at work if I cut myself bad. Just have to make sure it's good and clean before you glue it.
Guest Andrea
Hello Andrea!!!!! Nope. But it was new, clean tin. Shouldn't be a problem. If my jaw starts to tighten up, then I'll know.........

Hoosierbuck
I haven't had to use superglue on any major cuts, but at the end of winter when the hands are really dry and my fingertips start to split, I use it then. I like the superglue gel, it stays put and dries quickly. I highly recommend the gel formula. HB
USAFbowhunter
Sorry to hear about your cut. I have used superglue before and it works really good and if done right it leaves little to no scars.
RangerClay
Sorry to hear about your leg Andrea I hope it heals quickly! I have seen them use the super glue on my son when he cut himself. The only problem with the super glue method is that it leaves more of a scar than if they use stitches.

The only problem with the super glue method is that it leaves more of a scar than if they use stitches. Well, I'm not too worried about a scar. It's on the lower part of my leg just above the ankle. Being a tomboy growing up.....I'm used to scars on my legs. Will be kinda cool. Only hurts when I walk around. Kinda hard to keep off of it though with all I have to do everyday. Jodyslilbro
Glad everything turned out all right. It's a great thing you didn't have to go to the E.R. Where I live it takes a couple hours to be looked at.
