Rhino
Well I do love my .308. It's a great pistol round. :D Can't say I can go along with anything else you listed though. I know my place is with TOTPG. :p:p

buckee
Sign me up, I am a proud shooter of a .270, and have NO DESIRE to shoot anything bigger, but I also HATE COCOA That's OK. You don't have to like Cocoa. You just have to be proud of what you shoot, no matter, what it is.
Guest PAdeerdreamer
Sign me up accuracy is everything!! From my 17.HMR to my .270 I pledge my groups will never saticfy me and I will always try to do better. When 5 holes all touch only then will I set that gun down for the day. I feel for the OTPG there legs must be tired from walking down range to stand the backstop back up after every shot. And just to realize they hit the post not the target or a clean but close MISS. I don't think you would want to test that theory of yours, by standing in front of that target, with most of the shooters in here .. I know I'm good for atleast 400 yrd. shots ... SCOPERS ,,, you guys crack me up .. :D

That's pretty nice in theory, there, Dreamer. But, the OTPG has lots of guys who are shooting groups with powder-belching, fire-breathing, ultra-performance mudhole stompers that'll satisfy even the pickiest accuracy nut. "Big" don't equal "inaccurate". Take that to the bank.
ky_deerhunter_77
Hay Jeramie can I join? The only thing is I have a 7mm Rem Mag and a 300 RUM. But I love my .243 and 30-06. My 7 is retired and the 300 is for bad weather since it is a XCR.
too_pointer
Being the skilled hunter I am, I don't need to take shots 500 yards away, I use my hunting skills for closer shots with my .270 and 25-06. :D too_
buckee
"Big" don't equal "inaccurate". How true that is, but "Small" don't equal "inaccurate" either, accept at long ranges where we "Scopers" would just rather sneak in closer to "earn" the shot . :p:D (remember now...this is all in fun )
wtnhunt
How true that is, but "Small" don't equal "inaccurate" either LOL:D. Nope, sure doesn't. Think the weapon of choice of some snipers still remains the .308:cool:. Hardly an inaccurate round even at longer distances. Far as that goes, there are some non magnum cartridges that are capable of reaching way on out there with good accuracy in the hands of the right marksmen. For me, the .270 is more than adequate for these little whitetails around here that do not usually go over 200 lbs. For that matter the .243, the round both my wife and daughter hunt and KILL deer dead with is even quite effective at ranges we hunt where shots rarely go over 200 yards. Guess I am unofficially a scoper too since I have no need for overkill. Not afraid to admit either that I do like cocoa, and even enjoy cocoa flavored coffees from time to time:p:D
buckee
Let's explore history a bit As you can see, we were here long before the OTPG and will be here for a long, long time to come. In the words of a famous OTPGer "You can take that to the bank !!" :D:D As you can also see, these pics were taken a long time before Realtree Camo came along. We are much stronger today because of it.. We realized it wasn't a matter of power, it was a matter of concealment and stealth.
Strut10
Yup. And the do-do bird and passenger pigeon were around when those pics were snapped, too. They thought they'd always be around, too, I bet.

mike
ok... ok ....ok... don't worry poor otpg'rs. some people just blossom later in life than others! someday you will reach manhood then eventually you will feel comfortable with it and be secure. then you can enjoy a nice cup of cocoa without trying to hide it. you will actually be able to dust off that old marlin .22 you keep hidden in your closet and just do some plinkin just for fun! just keep walkin closer to the light boys:cool: manhood is just around the corner:p:p:D
VermontHunter
LOL:D. Nope, sure doesn't. Think the weapon of choice of some snipers still remains the .308:cool:. NOPE, sorry William the weapon choice of todays sniper is the XM-109 Rifle .. ;) Hardly a light weight weapon, here's some sepcifics of this weapon .. Name: Barrett XM-109 Sniper Rifle Type of Equipment: Sniper Rifle Killer Features: Fires 25mm low velocity HEDP ammunition Accurate out to 2,500 meters 46 inches long, weighs 33 pounds. Components interchangeable with M-107 .50 caliber rifle The centerpiece of the XM-109 system is the 25mm HEDP ammunition it fires. A scaled down derivative of the low velocity 30mm HEDP M789 ammunition fired by the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, the MX-109's 25mm ammunition has been judged to be 2.5 times more effective at destroying targets than a .50 caliber armor-piercing round. It is expected that this ammunition can penetrate nearly 40mm (an inch and a half) of armor plating at 500 meters, or blast open doors from around the corner. In other words, it gives the Soldier breaching capability on fortified positions, while minimizing exposure to enemy fire, thanks to its effectiveness at greater distances. Also in the works are a number of specialized rounds, ranging from solid core AP ammunition to non-lethal/ crowd control munitions utilizing inert rubber balls, and RC agents. This PUPPY has been proven to kill with head shots up to (get this) 1 mile ..

NOPE, sorry William the weapon choice of todays sniper is the XM-109 Rifle .. ;) Notice I said some Luke. The M24 is used effectively out to nearly 900 yards. That is a standard 7.62 X 51 or .308 cartridge. Have watched a few shows on discovery where they showed some of the newest rifles being used. Some of the LE marksmen choice was a custom .308 with a remington 700 action.
