Deer and Grapes

I just got permission to hunt a 20 acre plot of grapes used for a local winery. I set up a cam in the woods and didn't see much deer sign around. I know the grapes are not ripe yet so I'm assuming that's why there is a lack of sign. Do deer really like grapes?? The land owner says he has problems with deer but I don't see anything to suggest crop damage right now. I guess only time and my cameras will tell. Anyone have any experience with deer and grapes? thanks

Only with muscatines down here. They are nothing more than a wild grape though. Deer love them. The only problem is they are about played out by the time our season opens down here.

Last year I almost hit an 8 point in my cart during a scouting trip that was eating muscatines in the road. I came around a bend in the road and there he was enjoying those muscatines laying in the road. Scared me almost as much as it scared him. That area of the road ended up with a purple tint from all the smashed muscatines in it.

Deer absolutely love grapes.....The winery owners around here go to great lengths to protect their crop. Most have very intricate fencing designed to keep deer out.

Yeah, this landowner has 8 foot wire fences. But I've seen a few spots where the deer get under and over. Guess where I'm putting my stands. lol. I can't wait to check my cameras.
