Just looking for some opinions. A buddy of mine is new to bow hunting and is in the market and wants me to help him get started. He already decided he's getting a mathews but he hasn't decided which one. He asked me for my opinion and i said the XT but i just want to see what some of you guys think...thanks mathews

Both very sweet bows, either would be a fine choice to own. Personally I think the Drenalin would be my choice. Its the latest one out and the slim design looks sweet.

Have shot the XT and man its hard to put down. Maybe the XT would be better. Not sure! :)

eenie, meenie, minie, moe............. you can't go wrong with a Mathews!

Maybe the price would make him decide? Isn't the Drenlin about $100-$150 more for only a few feet per second difference? I shot the XT, I know for the money, it would be the XT.

For me I shot all the new bows this year and some of the old bows from last (which is what I recommend your friend does). The two that it came down to was the XT and Dren. The price difference was only $30 so I did not let that sway me in either direction. After shooting both, the conclusion that I came to was that the XT was a smoother draw but the Dren was lighter, faster and well balanced for.... ME.

I think you will hear alot of the XT guys saying that the Dren is no better than what they currently own and that is probaly true seeing that is what they are used to. For me the Dren was the clear winner.

Hope this helps either way he will not go wrong because both are awesome bows.

i own the switchback xt and its one of the smoothest shooting bows ive ever owned....it would be my choice....yes the drenalin is a tad lighter and more slim....but ive read about the drenalins limbs busting because they cant handle the pressure that they undergo....its only happened a few times but im not really willing to take my chance of being busted in the face......ur choice though

IMO Mathews' last good bow was the Outback. The Switchback wasn't bad but then they decided to make it slower and call it the XT, genious marketing. Anyway, I haven't shot the Drenalin but it looks like they've regained some of the speed they lost when they came out with the XT. If you are gonna drop that kind of cash, I would say get the best one, which has got to be the Dren.

The XT is what I bought last year and by far the best bow I've shot, but not shooting the Drenalin can't say. The length of axial to axial and brace height are little different on the two models, so they may influence his choice.

Really probably can't go wrong with either one.

yea its a 30 dollar difference around here to for each one. I haven't shot either one and would gladly take either. I'm bringing him to the proshop soon and i told him to shoot both and decide which one HE likes better. Those small limbs on the dren. just worry me a bit...idk we'll see. i hope i can restrain from shooting either when we go because then i'll be looking to trade in my SQ2

I say go with a HOYT, lol...Oh yeah that wasnt an option was it.

I've shot the Drenaline and the XT, I like the specs on the Dren better with the longer AtoA and higher IBO speed but honestly I thought the XT shot better...And I hate short bows. I shot them both bare with nothing but a rest on them and the Dren had alot more vibration and hand shock than the XT had...I'm not a huge Mathews fan, but I gotta say that XT is smooth as silk and dead in your hand. Both are good bows, I'm sure he'd be happy with either one.
