wtnhunt
Guess while I am already irritated with the changes to our county limits, might as well bring up another topic of disgusting discussion that comes up after a walk around this morning. I just dont get what is with these pieces of crap who attempt to represent hunters who help themselves with total lack of regard for the law or for the owners of the property they trespass on. Could not sleep last night, been having a lot of trouble sleeping here lately, so went yote hunting for a bit this morning, then went on to check my cams and walk around the property. Well, as I was walking around, found cigarette butts:mad: in the dried out grass in a few different locations, not far from some of my stands and cameras and my soybean plot:mad:. Have not had any rain in quite a while, but dont think the cigarette butts had been there long, did not see them last time I checked my cams last week. One was only about 200 yards from my house right next to one of my stands. I could see where they went over the fence, got a good idea I know who it was, guy from up the road who we suspect might be poaching. Did not get any pics of them this time, but I may move a camera temporarily on the fencerow and set it to run without the flash. Anyone know if you catch someone with a pic from camera, what if anything you can do to them?
wildside
Anyone know if you catch someone with a pic from camera, what if anything you can do to them? I don't know but sure hope that you can use whatever you might get on film as some sort of evidence, especially if the guy is poaching. Sorry to hear of that this is happening, and so near to your home at that. What drives some people to do the things they do is beyond me. Good luck with it all. DSGB
If you don't already have them, put No Tresspassing signs around your property. Make sure they are visible no matter how you enter. If you do already have them, put a few extra ones where you think this guy is coming on your property. Leave no doubt that he will see them. Then, if you do get his picture, take it to your local sheriff and see what can be done. It may also be helpful to take pictures of any other evidence he leaves, like the cigarette butts. You may even want to collect them and give them to the sheriff along with the pics.
Bownarow
I HATE TRESPASSERS!!!!!! Be careful with that camera. I had my stolen last year by some trespassers. I'm pretty sure who did it, but can't prove it, so I'm just out my $400 Cuddeback.
HuntnMa
hope you get him.....thats just wrong, not only to tresspass, but that cigarette dropping in the woods is bs, youd think he would of snuffed it out at the very least....burning is great when its prescribed, but that could of become nasty in the right conditions.....i think i'd be setting up that camera....make sure you have signs, that way there is no way out of it.....keep us updated. I try to check them once a week, and all my cams are locked with python cable locks. Guess there is always a chance they could get stolen. Guest coydog316
Man I feel for you:( When you see or notice that someones been in your area, it makes your heart drop somewhere around your knees. I know sometimes people think your a hind-end, but DO NOT EVER GIVE UP! I had posted here lately about some pics I got of 2 coonhunters. Well, I made a call to this fellow and made my case and point. He was ready to talk....I think it might have been because I mentioned his pic and the Game Warden all in the same sentence! If you can get all your ducks in a row.......go after him with the evidence you have. And don't forget to mention how you have contacted your conservation officer! Good Luck! buckee
Between the new law changes, the wild dog problem and trespassers, it sounds like you're in for an interesting hunting season William. Put a piece of tape over the flash on your camera, and hide it well. You should be able to get them for trespassing, and if they're carrying guns, you should be able to get them with poaching as well.
wtnhunt
Yeah Steve, I really dont have very high expectations for this season. Just hope my oldest daughter and wife each get to kill a deer this year, they both ended up without last year. My oldest was sick last year after passing up a couple young bucks, up close with hopes for another chance on a mature 10 pointer she had seen the opening morning of the youth hunt. She ended up not getting one at all last year. She has a bit of a different perspective now. On the cams, they are homebrews. I can manually turn the flash off and can turn the blinking led off as well.
Swamphunter
know if you catch someone with a pic from camera, what if anything you can do to them? Don't know about Tenn, but in NY you sign a statement against the guy and submit the pic as evidence and you can have the guy arrested for trespass as long as he can be identified.
