Turkeygirl
So 2 weeks ago I took my bow to the shop, had a kisser button put on and the nock re-set...it was a little off. I thionk they adjusted my rest also. So when i shot 3D Wednesday night...my bow was shooting awesome! I just needed to adjust my sight up/down but it was perfect left/right. Anyway I had my nock set and loop tied in blue but I was tired of the blue and the nock thread I had I wanted to be a better nock set. So I took a fabric marker and marked on the string where it was, then took them off and tied on a new nock set with new nock thread, and a black loop. Let me know what you think: Since I marked on the string where the nock was and then tied at that point, my nock should be ok, right? I'm not sure how much you can mess up your nock point but I marked it on the string and tied so I hope it's still good. By the way, anyone have some good directions on how to check your nock point? I'd like to be able to do it myself, just not sure. Thanks!
Turkeygirl
Anyone at all with a comment? Are the nocks points too close to tight with the arrow or ok?
Rayzorp
Looks okay,, not sure if you will run into a problem if you ever switched to a differenk nok. I just put a loop on my new bow, had to switch to Blazer noks on all my arrows. As long as there is no contact with arrow nok you'll be fine.. Good luck!!!! buckee
There should be a little clearance as exaggerated by this picture, under your nock-point and nock. The reason for a little clearance, is so you don't pinch the nock, while drawing back, and interferring with arrow release and flight Here's another example
LifeNRA
See I didn't know that either. My loops are against the nock, maybe not real tight. But I'm shooting pretty good. I guess Ill have to move them a bit! I have the same set up as buckee top pic.
Tom2008
Mine is a little bit away fromt he nock, but barely and I'm shooting 5 arrows slapping each other in one spot. I guess its fine for me.
BKE
Time will tell. What I mean is , you say it was shooting awesome after the shop did a little tuning but you don't mention if you have shot it since you made the change. Is it still shooting just as awesome and if so then I quess you got it. Good job, also neat looking wraps!
Turkeygirl
So to make a little more space, do I just move the top nock set up a little bit, since the bottom nock was my nock point? I'm hoping to shoot this week and check things out but don't know if I'll get to it. I'd appreciate it though if some one could tell me how you determine where your nock is on the string if incase it was too be off (hopefully not as I was being careful). BKE
I'm pretty sure the shops have/use a T square that snaps onto the string, top of the tee sits vertically along the string and the long part extends horizontilly to sit on the rest which squares everything up. I wish I could help you because I'm sure it can be done at home with a level of some type but would rather someone that has done it tell you how. Is that a drop away on your bow and if so I'm assuming it would have to be in the up position (makes sense to me), but them again who knows. Michihunter
A little space is advised due to the angle created on the string when you are at full draw. You also may want to check to see how tight your nocks are on the serving. This can easily be accomplished by holding the bow horizontal with an arrow nocked and lightly plucking the string. The arrow SHOULD rellease. If it doesn't they are too tight. If it releases without a pluck they are too loose.
