Guest coydog316
I have a question for you guys relating to the properties you all hunt. Have any of you guys taken advantage of the state WHIP programs in your state? If not I want to tell you that if you qualify, and you are not using this resource, you really need to check into it! wtnhunt
There are some state programs here, I have looked at them and downloaded the application, but have not yet filled it out or sent it in. Think "whip" stands for something along the lines of Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program or something like that.
Guest coydog316
Wildlife Habitat Incentives Programs. I was checking into it this past spring for our 500 acre farm and I was absolutely blown away! So this coming spring the state of Indiana will be providing 90% of the cost, and paying me $120-$160 per acre per year for 10 years, just so I can have 35-40 acres of switchgrass and big bluestem(native grasses)as cover for our deer! If you are not familiar with these two grasses, I will just give you a hint...they get 5-6 foot tall and thicker than a son of a gun! Right now we have about 60% woods, 40% tillable ground and we will be using that tillable ground for this program. And by the way it is also good for turkeys and rabbits and quail and...........
