VermontHunter
I don't know wether to be freakin' irate or depressed right now.... I need to have my driveway rebuilt after 15 yrs. ,, My driveway is 14ft. wide until you get where the wife and I park and then it widen's to 28 ft. and it's 135 ft. long. When the wife and I had this driveway built 15 yr's ago it cost us around ,, $300 taking in mind I had my CDL then and I had access to a 10 wheeler... My buddy just left here and did a quote for me.... He'll be taking his 4 wheel drive back hoe and bringing the grade back to level and hauling in 3 16 yrd. loads of drive way stone and leveling it for us .... Now take in mind most of this is at cost ... The total tally is going to be $675.00 .. Man I hate freakin' inflation ,, and we have NO choice but to rebuild this drive way or be bumber high in mud come spring and possibly tear the wifes Toyota to pieces ... Man, there has to be an easier way to live ... OK ranting done ...

VermontHunter
you could always go back to what you were making 15 years ago and try to do it? lol Steve LOL.. Don't depress me even more .... :p Lets see 15 yrs. ago I think I was making around $6.25 p/hr. Yep now I'm really depressed .. :D
5994_MUZZYMAN
I wish i could build mine that cheap. I have to build a 400 ft drive way. I don't have no buddy to give me materials at cost. I just have a small tractor of my own and the implements. One 15 yd load of white limestone rock here is running 650 dollars and i'm going to need about 3 plus the top soil. so it will take me about 2500 dollars to build mine. So 650 isn't so bad. Tominator
Don't know what to say except that I've found that you have to maintain as it goes. I dump a new load of stone every 4 or 5 years. As soon as the ruts show up, more stone is ordered. I'm lucky I have a 4' blade too incase we get a hump in the middle.
buckee
I was lucky when I built mine. It was already all hard packed hard-pan and stone, and My neighbour had a cement mixer, and we were both a bit younger than we are now. ..LOL We mixed it and poured it all, one wheel barrel at a time If I had to do that over again now, I'd freak too. VermontHunter
Heck, I'm feeling a whole lot better after reading 5994_MUZZYMAN post .... $650 for a 15 yrd load of stone .. Heck, if I had to pay that per load I'd be better off getting the wife a 4X4 too and just consider it mudding ... .. :D I hear ya Steve, we aren't any younger that's for sure,, but I sure do miss having access to heavy equipment.. 007hunter
I'll be honest with you, that price sounds like a good deal to me. Be glad you got good friends who are willing to help you out. Imagine the price that it would be if you had to bring a company in and do it....
OJR
You don't have one thing to be upset about!! That is a very reasonable price!

Be glad you got good friends who are willing to help you out. Imagine the price that it would be if you had to bring a company in and do it.... OH I am .. believe me... I know exactly what it would be if I didn't have a buddy with the equipment ... and understand he has to make money with it ... Let's see around here a 15 yrd. load of white crush is about $225 per load and I need 3 so that $775.00 right there ,, now the back-hoe is $85.00 per hour and the job will take about 3 hrs. so that's another $225.00 bringing the grand total to $1030.00 where I saved is my experience with heavy equipment he doesn't have to have one of his operators there to pay ,, I will be doing that part .. Yep,, sure is nice to have friends that will help,, but then again I seem to have plenty of guardian angels out there saving my butt from the grinder .. Sure glad I'm not in Justin's shoe's ..

wtnhunt
Luke, I average 1-2 loads of gravel on my drive a year just to maintain it with my tractor. With the prices of fuel up, the last load I bought was I think $325 for a 26 ton load of crushed limestone. I would be estatic to pay that little over 15 years.
