coles
Re: sully\'s first rabbit i saw that you are looking into buying a 17hmr lil. i would probably recommend the mach2 cuz the shells are a little less expensive and i dont think it would do as much damage as a regular 17. i dont have much experience wtih the mach 2 cuz he wont let me shoot it much. he keeps a lock on the trigger and hides the key. buckee
Re: sully\'s first rabbit I've never seen a Jack-rabbit turn white in the winter and it doesn't look like a Jack. Are you sure that's not a snowshoe Hare ? Dead rabbit just the same though Congratulations

buckee
Re: sully\'s first rabbit Hate to tell you this, but that's not a Jack, it's a snowshoe. Jacks have huge ears These pictures all come from the Montanna Feild Guide Dessert Cottontail web page Whitetailed Jack-rabbit web page Blacktailed Jack-rabbit web page Snowshoe Hare, In Summer Coat (turns white in winter) web page Mountain Cottontail web page

coles
Re: sully\'s first rabbit im not trying to argue but thats just what people have always called them and i will continue to call htem that too. last friday we shot 6 more in a couple hours . wasnt too good though cuz it was a blizzard. we went up to the airport and the let my buddy go up there and shoot em so the planes dont hit em. his dad is on the airport board and they said shoot em all. but it is just outside of the city limits so we have to be careful. we used shotguns. we just drove up and down the runways. Palssonater
Re: sully\'s first rabbit We have a lot misnamed things around here. I was brought up to call a freshwater drum and sheepshead or sunfish. and a walleye a pickerel. I know these are not correct but I have a hard time breaking the habit. Everyone around here wouldn't understand if I said "drum" As for rabbitts, I am no expert. I would say its a "white one".
buckee
Re: sully\'s first rabbit I wasn't trying to argue. I just wanted to point out that they weren't jacks. A lot of things are named wrong in different parts of the country. In northern Ontario for instance, my Dad and uncles always called the Ruffedgrouse they shot up north Partridge. I even got into an arguement with them one time, and got out the pictures to prove it. They still call them Partridge...LOL ......OH well
