BigCheeky
I'm new here so I originally posted these pics of my dad's deer stand in a thread that was a month old, not knowing that nobody would see them. I had to come back and brag for my dad a little bit. He put lots of hard work into this stand. He's been working on it now for about two years, but now it's pretty much done inside and out. It's 12x12 on the inside with a 6 foot porch on three sides. The deck is covered on two sides with the front exposed. #1 - You can see the porch and the windows. They open fully to shoot out of and tilt in for easy cleaning. #2 - Closer view. #3 - During the construction phase. This is what you see coming in off the field road. #4 - A view of the interior during the construction. We were cleaning up a bit. Now there are 2 recliners in there (one of course is camo). Can't beat hunting out of recliner. This was the only interior shot I had on my computer right now. I'll have to get more updated ones next time I go out to the farm. Now the inside has walls made of part old barn siding and part cedar boards with a chair rail in the middle.

toddyboman
Since I have seen and been in this "deer stand" first hand it is very impressive. The pics really do not do it justice. The "condo" is what it is ofter referred to as.... which is very fitting. :D:D

BigCheeky
Thank you for all the nice comments. I'm know my dad would appreciate all of your comments. Take it from Todd the few pics that I have put up here do not do it justice. My dad often spends a couple days at a time in the "condo", especially during deer season. He loves to show it off to folks. He goes out there every weekend and drinks coffee while watching the sun come up.
buckee
Very nice condo there. Would be easy to spend all day hunts in a setup like that. Never mind all day, heck, you could spend the week there Sleep, get up, wipe the sleep from your eyes, and shoot
c_lou
He should be gauranteed to be the first one out there, you could sleep in that thing. Nice "deer stand".

BigCheeky
Wow Todd, those are some good pics. You'll have to get me copies of those that I can give to Dad. Tell Del thanks. Well since you asked nicely I will enlighten the fine folks with a little more information about the "condo". When my dad built the condo he decided to put in 12 volt electricity in the place. He ran wires and the whole bit. He's got outets and everything. It's all hooked up to a marine battery and it also has a solar battery charger hooked up to keep the battery charged. There are outside lights hooked up as well. He keeps a cot out there to sleep on. There are two recliners in the stand, one is a camo one. He's got a coleman camp stove in there to cook on. He fries fish, and also makes eggs and sausage. He's also got a full size kitchen table and chairs. That's about all that I can think of Todd, anything else that I forgot? Guest Finn
Very nice...if you can help it, might as well be comfy Has he killed many deer out of it? My Dad has killed some nice bucks out of his shack, but it's only 8'x8'
colescott1
That is an incredible construction....but not for what I consider hunting....its not a deer stand. It's a house. Anyone who has deer in their back yards has the same type "stand". Nothing wrong with it at all...just not my cup of tea. I'm not sure why, but I've always been against even the box blinds and stuff....just got a hard headed mindset that I gotta be out in the elements with the deer to really feel like I'm hunting. If the cold gets the best of me, and I gotta go in, then the deer wins that day. Don't get me wrong... I bet your Dad enjoys his coffee and eggs in the morning sitting out overlooking and watching the deer....so more power to him!

BigCheeky
Very nice...if you can help it, might as well be comfy Has he killed many deer out of it? My Dad has killed some nice bucks out of his shack, but it's only 8'x8' We've only hunted out of it for a couple years now and I think the only person to kill a deer out of it was my brother, and he killed a doe. We're trying to get the bucks bigger out there and do the QDM to make it a better habitat for them, so nothing huge yet. A guy on a neighboring piece of property killed probably a 160 class buck about two years back that my dad had been seeing come on to our land every night. That kind of stinks. toddyboman
And your dad found how many sheds less than 75 yards from the stand. And what DB didnt go look after asking...:(
BigCheeky
And your dad found how many sheds less than 75 yards from the stand. And what DB didnt go look after asking...:( My Dad found, from what we could all tell, was probably 4 or 5 sets of matching sheds in the field not more than a couple hundred yards from the stand. It was this spring when the CRP was still all green. Todd had the chance to go out and look, my dad said it was ok, however decided not to since he'd already found "a few" out there. I learned a long time ago that what works for one, may not work for another...The very mention of your disapproval shows that the mindset of hunters criticizing another hunter is very much alive. Considering all of the things that we are fighting for against those that want to ban hunting, I reckon any negative talk should be directed towards them. Just an idea. However, nice "DEER STAND." He did a great job. I could see myself just sitting out there relaxing when I wasn't aiming to kill a deer.
