brad dryden
Well 2 days ago I put out a leg trap and was hoping to catch a coyote well everday I went out to check it well this morning went out and had a racconn in it and felt sorry for it becouse I had no intintions of catching one so went back to the house got a cover when walking to it I could see its paw was badly hurt and it was bleeding some and it had bit hair out of its upper arm and it kinda stood up and was growling and then its started rubbing its arm with its paw like a person would do when if they were hit in the arm real hard I had the 22. but I prefered to save the fella so I threw the cover over him and he got out and climbed on it so I took a stick and fliped some more cover over him and put the stick on the cover so he couldent get out and then put my foot on it and he kept bitting it and put the stick in from of the trap becouse he kept bitting on it then so I kept it in place long enough to get my hands on the levers and release the trap when I did that he bolted out and ran down towards the creek and a small group of cliff rocks. This is the first time I attepted to use a trap. Do you think it will live or do you think I should have just shot it?
wtnhunt
Re: Not what I was hoping for Think I would have just shot it, not worth the risk of getting bit and possibly getting rabies or something else. Those blasted coons are very very destructive and can carry a number of very bad diseases to livestock and other wild and domestic animals. KTMMIKE
Re: Not what I was hoping for I would've shot it. Someone would have taken it. I'm finding out also that you don't always get what you are after when trapping.
Steven
Re: Not what I was hoping for I definitely would've shot it. Too much risk releasing an injured animal, especially a coon.
