ousoonerfan22
I live on 17 acres in a rural area and I spray roundup around the trunk of the trees and along the fence but I make sure I never get any on the neighbors property or have any wind drift. There is an old lady that lives across the road that has a fit every time I spray claiming it's making her sick. The very slight breeze today was out of the south and she lives south of us so I know none of the roundup could make it over to her property. Is roundup that harmfull to humans?
Guest zac
it isn't exactly good for you, you probably should NOT breathe the fumes and DO NOT swallow, try not to get wet yourself, and wear gloves if you are mixing it.
Ravin R10 man
I think she has a wild imagination...I spray everything that I used to weed whack....plus all my seed production fields...and yes I drink the tap water. Never spray with over a 10 MPH wind.
wtnhunt
Like said above, so long as you are not spraying during windy conditions with her outside while you are spraying, think there is really no possible way it could bother her. Ravin R10 man
She could possibly be smelling it when you are spraying..other than that..no problem.
Leo
This is the Material Safety Data Sheet for Roundup. http://www.mindfully.org/Pesticide/Monsanto-Roundup-MSDS-Docs6049.htm Read it and you'll know everything that should be a concern about it. Essentially it can be irritating not unlike an anxious neighbor
ousoonerfan22
Yes,this neighbor is a pain she doesn't like guns, hunting, burning brushpiles and freaks out if someone is spraying.A large local ranch was going to spray with an airplane to kill the sumac and brush taking over the ranch and she showed up to protest even though she lived at least 6-7 miles from there. Leo
It's called cultivated ignorance. Ronald Reagan defined it as those who know so much about that which isn't so.
SoybeanMan
Glyphosate is one of the safest pesticides there is. Had a Monsanto employee say it was so safe, she drank a vile every day. It is a salt, and salt can be irritating. The surfactant is probably more harmful than the glyphosate. Anyway, do a test. Go load your sprayer with water and spray the heck out of the property line in full view of the lady. Document the date and water amount used. When she calls and says she is feeling bad, let her know that you just sprayed plain water for a test. ALWAYS doucment your spray records, in case something like this happens again. Ravin R10 man
good point bean man..we must keep documented records for the last 3 years on hand..I'll bet she would have a reaction to plain water being sprayed...LOL
ousoonerfan22
The county workers mow the ditches along the roads with a tractor and brushhog well when they mowed in front of her property a couple of weeks ago she threw a fit.Last week at the county commissioners meeting she stood up ranting that the county had destroyed her property and disrupted the meeting enough that she had to be escorted out by county deputies.
