Extended or Crew

Here's my question my fiancee was talking about having a child after our wedding and that i would probably need to find a new truck since mind is a reg cab. Just wondering if it is worth getting a extended since crew is bigger? I ask because she likes to drive my truck when we get snow and i dont want to get something that is too big for her to handle and also want to still have a long box. my thinking is to go with a crew w/ long box for room in cab and bed and just have the drive in low traffic areas when i first get it till she gets used to it. What u all think?

My 2001 Ford Lariat is an extended cab. It's fine. The seat in the back isn't as comfortable as the seats in the crew, but the boys haven't complained yet. However, if I get a new truck, I will get a crew cab simply because my boys are 11 and 14 and their legs aren't getting any shorter.;)

My main thought is car seats and putting small kids in em

There's really no difference if you're concerned about car seats. My youngest child was still in a booster seat when we bought the truck. And my niece was an infant. No problem taking the seats in and out.

Crew all the way. Not only will your passengers be happier with the extra leg room, but its way more convenient. I leave all my hunting gear in my truck during hunting season so I can just go whenever I want. Having that extra room for my gear is way more convenient. As far as the driving. A crew doesn't turn quite as sharp, but its not a huge difference. But I think a crew with long box could be a little tricky trying to park.

Is it possible to get a crew cab with a long bed? That'll be a big truck.

My F-150 Crew Cab had a 5 foot bed and it was a long vehicle. Didn't realize it while driving, but parking it was interesting at first.

I'd go with the Crew Cab if you can.

Go with the crew cab. But to get a crew cab long bed you will have to go with either a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. Dad bought an 05' 2500HD crew cab long bed with the Duramax for towing and for hauling on the farm and there is lots of room inside. IT does take more room to turn around in and it is interesting parking the first time or two, but after that it is easy. Good luck with your decision.

idk i guess if i get a crew i'll go with short box, been looking online and some extended look pretty big if i go that way i could get a long box. and kids are smaller for a little bit so extended should be ok. And a buddy of mind should be getting his new 3/4 ton ford monday he went ext w/ long box and has a 2 year old i'll ask him waht he thinks after driving it for a week or so.

I just sold an extended cab Chevy that I owned for 10 years and bought this two weeks ago.

I have two kids of my own so I understand your concern. Let me say this, I will NEVER go back to an extended cab again. The crew cab is the only way to go! You have sooooo much more room than the extended cab. Plus having a full seat in the back makes it more comfortable if you want to sit 3 adults in the backseat. I could never sit comfortably in the sort-of back seat of my old truck, then again I'm 6'-2"

Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew, Crew!

Get the point?

I have a 2001 Extended Cab F-150. The back seat is small and way to small for a carseat IMHO. My daughter (who will be 2 in October) has to sit straight up because of the way the seats are made. Car seats are suppose to recline slightly, or lay if they are very small Children. My daughter is also pretty small but she still has to smash her legs behind the seats.

If I had the chance id switch for a Crew cab in an instant. However, I dont want to go into debt for that reason alone. We have two other vehicles. If you need the bedspace you'll have to go with the crew, if you are simply looking for a new truck and will occasionally put stuff in the back STAY AWAY FROM THE EXTENDED.

Yeah, have to have a bus parking permit, trust me. I have an F-250 Crew cab long bed. You kind of have to plan ahead when it comes to turning around, especially with a trailer behind ya. It's all personal preference, and I like my truck, but my wife won't even get behind the wheel because it is so much truck. Good thing I have the back-up sensors. :D

A crew cab long box is absolutely huge. It's like trying to park a limo in a parking place. If you just wanted a short box I'd get the crew, but if you need the long box go with the extended.

I've got a regular cab short box and I can still fit my snowmobile in it, the back of the track sits on the tailgate which doesn't hurt it. I've also had 14' aluminum boats in the back of it.
