Turkeygirl
Just wondering if any of you ladies who have bows and practicing yet for the season? I want to shoot more when time allows but my bow I'd say is in good shape for the season - sights basically on, arrows ready, I'm ready:cool: Thought I need to get some 100 gr. broadheads, that's about it. Deb
I've been shooting some, enough to get the bow sited in and a couple of practice sessions. Then I found out a week ago that I had to shoot two days ago to qualify for a lottery hunt. We usually qualify at the end of August. Bet some people were scrambling to get their bows up to par! Qualifying went fine and now I have a hunt locked up for a location 1 mile for my house. Nothing like hunting urban deer! It will be the month of January, so that means that half the qualifiers won't hunt more than once! There will probably be only 3 or 4 of us that will put some time in. wildside
Glad to read that qualifying went well and you got a close-to-home hunt, Deb! I've been itchin to shoot but haven't yet. Yesterday, my husband and I set our son up with a hand-me-down Golden Eagle Brave bow. . . talk about some serious itchin to shoot. . . he can hardly wait to fling his first arrow! It rained all day long, though, so it never worked to get out and do anything, let alone shoot. I'm off of work this week and should be able to finally get out my bow and add a few more holes to our aging deer target. . . hummm, with a new little shooter in the family, perhaps it's time for a new target! Cabela's road trip!
mrswtnhunt
I have been practicing on and off since November when I got my bow for my anniversary. Last weekend, while practicing, my peep sight popped out and I couldn't find it. I took my bow to Elliot's Outdoors on Friday to have another peep sight put in. It should be ready first part of next week so I can get back to practicing. This will be my first year to hunt with a bow. Have hunted with muzzleloader and rifle for several years. I am really excited about this year. Maybe I will get a chance at a nice one before rifle season opens. Last year on opening day of rifle is sounded like a war zone around the area I was hunting. Will keep you guys/gals posted.

luvtohnt
This is my first season with a bow. Got it sighted well. I got a woodchuck at 22 yards a couple of weeks ago!! I think my fiance was more excited than i was. My confidence was a little low b/c I can never seem to hit the target consistently when i shoot. just need more practice. And of course when i hit the chuck with a field tip, it didn't die right away. So I didn't think about the field tip, just that I didn't have a kill shot. But as Duck (my fiance) pointed out, that chuck was about the aize of a kill zone on a deer and 22 yards is about all I'd be shooting so now I can't wait for the end of September to go out with my bow!
