VermontHunter
Just a quick inquery.. I had one of these, and the darn thing twisted clean off at the 1st. joint on the 3 arm Model... :( My question is, has this piece of equipment been improved or should I be looking at something else to hang my bow on ?? ... Any Input would be greatly appreciated and soon because I need to replace the one I had...
ntrout
I have the standard one and it's ok unless the wind is blowing hard and then it wants to twist.

buffett1
I've always used the 3 arm model, but I always have the darndest time getting it into the tree. Any hints on making that easier? But the arms on mine have never given me troubles.

Any hints on making that easier? i carry one of those 99 cent bow holder hooks in my pack (also use that to hang my backpack up), if i have a hard time getting my e-z hanger started, i use the bow hook to start off the hole, the e-z hanger usually catches right away after that. wtnhunt
Dont have any of the three arm models Luke. Did buy two more of the long two arm models for this year though. Never had any problems out of the one I was using last year or out of the other hangers I was using from gorilla.
rhine16
I have the two arm model, and i would not climb a tree without one. I had one break off in a tree one time(because i decided i would just jerk it out instead of pulling it ), but have had no other problems
wildthing
I have the 3 arm model and have had no problems with mine yet. But I bought the same exact one as a gift for my brother-in-law and he used it one time and one of the bolts busted right in half the first time he opened the arms. A simple bolt replacement and new nut did the trick. No problems since then. They are a handy tool. Good luck this season with it.
Bownarow
I would say the 2 arm model is the way to go. I have the Gorilla version and it's a 2-arm and works great.
JimT
I have a few of these as well. No problems so far. I would not bowhunt without one now. Maybe you got a lemon?
VermontHunter
I have a few of these as well. No problems so far. I would not bowhunt without one now. Maybe you got a lemon? Thats what Im think too Jim.. I just picked up another one at the bow shop tonite, and got a starter bit as well .. Not a bad deal either the both together only cost me $20.00 ,, can't beat that deal .. :) THANKS for all of the input folks ..
unioncountyslayer
Always had good sucess with mine, I have about 10 of them. I just leave them on the trees where I hunt. You may just want to trash that one and re-invest. But whatever you do, don't buy one of the knock-off's. I made the mistake of buying one made by Gorilla I think, and when I went to hang my bow on it the darn thing about came in two!
Guest AReed
I have one of the 2 arm EZ hangers for every stand I put out. This keeps me from having to take it down every time I come in and out of the woods. Therefore there is less wear and tear on the hanger. Just a little tip that has worked for me. Never had any problems myself
Rhino
Sounds to me like you got a lemon too Luke. I have 3 of the 3 arm ones now. Last year I broke of the very tip of my old one (my fault) trying to get it out of a tree quietly. I bought 2 more this summer and I'll probably leave one in a bow stand I like to hunt that's harder to get to. I bought 2 more to use both of them for a rest during gun season too. One for a right hand shot and one for a left hand shot.
AdvantageTimberLou
I have the shorter one but at some stand locations what works best is a simple screw in step. I put that into the tree above my head a foot or so while in a sitting position on stand. I then put a rubber tube over it to quiet any noise and to not mar the finish on my bow while it hands there and it works great. Simple, cheap, and effective. BearClaw
I use the three arm model and I've never had a problem with it. It is hard to screw in. I have to really give it a good whack the first time to make the screw catch so I can screw it in. I like it because I don't have to reach behind me at all to get to my bow. I do like the idea of a scew in step. I use one of those at the bottom of the tree to hold my bow until I climb up and then haul it up by the rope off the step. That way I don't have to place the bow in the dirt.
mollyrh
i guess the starter bit must allow you to screw in hanger cause other wise great idea but they suck in my opinion, so many mornings I struggled and gave up trying to get started in a tree. the thread pattern is not deep enough and too close. like i said just my experience. The_Kat
Grrrr....I hate my EZ Hanger. It never wants to go in the tree. I have had three and none of em worked worth a crap. I won't buy another one....guess the trees in Oklahoma are too hard???

Welcome to the forums. Never have had to try a starter, and have used the hangers on plenty of hard hardwoods. Seems there were some complaints somewhere in the forums in another room in the past about the point on hangers not being sharp enough. Guess it is possible there was a run of defective screws on the hangers, don't know, but do know that of all that I have used the screws were plenty sharp enough to start. Grrrr....I hate my EZ Hanger. It never wants to go in the tree. I have had three and none of em worked worth a crap. I won't buy another one....guess the trees in Oklahoma are too hard??? Don't know Kyle, never had any issues with the ez hangers getting started. Sometimes you do have to jab em in the tree kind of hard to get them to take a bite when you first get them started, would imagine any of the hangers on the market would be about the same on those hard trees, have you tried any other similar hangers?
