Ouestion about trail cam

The best hands down in my opinion are homebrew cameras. If you are looking at commercial cams though, the folks at vibrashine(leaf river) seem to have great customer service and good products. The new moultries are supposed to be better and the reviews on them look good, but will have to hear more on them before I would consider buying one even though they are cheaper to buy than what it costs me to build my homebrews.

Cuddeback, well maybe they have overhauled their customer service department, maybe not. They have good cameras, good triggers and pic quality, but seemed in the past they did not want to stand behind what they sold, and charged customers for repairs that should have been warranty repairs.

Guess it really all comes down to what you are looking for in a camera and how much you are looking to spend.

I have a couple of the new Moultries and they have never failed me yet. Battery life is really good on the ones I got. But it really depends how much money your willing to spend!!

All I use are Cuddeback cameras for the positive reasons William mentioned. I have 3 and for the time being I'm running 2 others around for friends that don't have the free time I have these days.

There seem to be a lot of new cameras coming on the market. Haven't heard anything about them yet but I've read that some claim to have a pretty fast shutter speed.

We have 4 cuddebacks, It started with one then two, now we have 4. We have had some problems after about 2 years of use like one of the buttons wore out. But we have had probably over a thousand pics. We just got the new cuddeback last week and called cuddeback about the new one not being very sercure to the tree and they told us to buy the bear box so we did. And that hasnt come in yet. The service on the cuddeback is expensive when you send it in for repair it cost $100 dollars but they warrany it for 6 months that $100 gets you a new board and flash tube with the latest software not to bad for an older camera. It used to cost $30 for repair but now it has gone up alot. They did offer me $100 credit toward a new on but i like the older cams they have better trigger speed in my opinion. I have seen other game cam pics and not happy with the trigger speed on them good luck !

Wow, and cudde is trying to repair their image????

Leaf river has good customer service and good cameras. Their warranty by the way is a one year warranty I believe, and they will fix problems that are on their account beyond that at their discretion free of charge. Example of that, the wire through the door issue they acknowledged as their problem and they fixed free of charge NO QUESTIONS ASKED for many customers. I had my cam back in about a week.

When the flash went out on my about 3 year old leaf river cam, I sent it into vibrashine. Cost me about $6 or $7 for shipping because I insured it, the price from them if I remember right was like $20 for a new flash module and they checked the cam over completely before returning it to me, So the repair cost me around $30 total on a camera that had taken probably on average 50 pics a week for nearly 3 years continuous running with the exception of about a week pulled for the repair on the wires. If you add it up, that camera probably took somewhere in the neighborhood of 6-7000 pics before the flash crapped out, and it is back out and going. Cannot beat service like that.

The newer leaf rivers if you check the reviews at chasingame are supposed to have triggers around 2 seconds which is not bad. Mine is an older unit and does not trigger quite that fast.

Go to chasingame.com they have all kinds of camera reviews. I have tried moultrie, stealthcam and cuddebacks. I think for the best value stealth cam is the way to go. The best thing is the burst mode. The new stealth cam's can take up to 9 pics everytime they trigger (which is a little excessive i think). Mine take up to 3 at a time and it is great for getting multiple angles of bucks. They have come a long way as far as trigger speed and although not as good as a cuddeback they are definitely sufficient. They have a more sensitive motion sensor and will not miss as many animals as a cuddeback. Seems to me that cuddeback has been taking steps backwards everysince they came out. My buddy had an expert and a no flash and he didn't like either as much as the original cuddeback 1.3mp.

I don't have any major objections with my cuddeback excite but it wasn't worth the extra money in my opinion.

That's my opinion
