to Chris (aka Tominator)!

For the past five years I have absolutely no success growing corn in my garden. All last winter I swore that I was done with gardening bologna but my wife kept pushing me to try one more time. So I PM'd the almighty corn guru himself (about 50 times:D) for some advice and guess what I got CORN! My own corn and we dined on it last night.

Cheers Chris! I am forever in your debt!

Exactly what I was thinking!

I'll have to post a pic of my corn patch. I followed Chris' corn growing lessons to a T and got the exact opposite as you did Clay.....:D

Ummmmm, no you didn't. If you did, your corn would look like Joe's, but it doesn't.

Thanks for the kind comments Joe. I guess it comes down to the fact that I've failed a few times too. Just passing on what works for me, and actually have taken quite a few tips from Todd and William.

BTW--you need to weed that corn. lol.:D

Well, except for the "add peet while tilling" and the "check pH level" and the "right timeframe to plant" and the "need to fertilize" and the "Preen like there's no tomorrow" directions, I followed everything else to a T and I ended up with 4 ft stalks with ears that are in the 4-8" range.....:D :D

Chris know's corn, that is for sure.

LOL, that is pretty funny Tom, think it might be a little easier to tell us what of Chris' advice you did follow:rolleyes::eek:. Chris knows corn, but really the stuff is not hard to grow and get results. Never have added lime to my garden spot and have grown corn on corn without rotating with good results.

Only problem we have here is with insects which the suggestions Chris has given me on sevin seem to make some difference but not really that significant, have come to the realization that here where we are it is impossible to grow corn without having some insects get to it.

Tom, you can get away without doing all of that stuff if you just side dress your corn with a high nitrogen fertilizer 2 or 3 times. Once after emergence, once at 12 inches, and lastly at corn tasseling. I plant my rows just wide enough here to run my troy bilt tiller through for weed control, really seems to help.
