    • Yes, they are terrible for the habitat so, I get rid of them once I catch 'em.

Hi guys,

Recently I've been doing alot of sucker fishing. Catching carp, redhorse and sheepshead, I figured that since they are bad for the river/lake/pond/watersource, they should just be killed.

So thats why I'm making this pole to decide wether or not YOU kill the rough fish once you catch them. Please post why, or why not.

Thanks,

Joe

Heh Heh, I usually spear the carp while they are on my line, because they are too heavy to pull up. And I usually just toss their bodies on the rocks, for the coons, or I use them as cut bait, but the cut bait never really catches much.

Have you guys ever caught anything on cut bait? if so how?

Cheers,

Joe

I'm having a hard time finding you info on how to cut up a sucker.

You basically filet it out then "gash" it. Which means making slices into the filet ( but not all the way thru) very close together....all the way down the filet. This eliminates those fine bones. When you fry it, the piece will look like a curled up slinky.;)

We use Zatarain's fish fry and lots of salt and pepper. VERY GOOD!!!!!!:):):)

Don't eat carp, so couldn't tell you about those. But people in Britain sure do!!!

When I am going to eat a fish, I cut off the head, Fins and tail. Make a cut in the stomach about all the way to the end of the tail from the head, I get out all the guts, scale it, soak it in salt water for a few days. Then salt and pepper and butter in the "gash" and wrap it in tinfoil and throw it on the grill.

Then when its done cookin you open up the gash, and grab a hold of the spine and pull, then ALL of the bones come out with the spine and your just left with meat, if you did it right. But sometimes there may be a few bones left behind, but it's nothin yall cant handle.

i definately pick the last one, alot of times it depends on how im feeling, carp dont bother me as much as the sheephead do or aka drum, the sheaphead really get to me they are just a crap fish, sometimes when im in tournaments or prefishing and we catch sheephead, we kill em many of the other guys do to, the asian carp that are invading are rivers are horrible and very dangerous, anytime and everytime we get ahold of one of those we kill it

they asian carp around here have injured and killed many people because when they feel the vibration of the outboard they start jumping jumping everywhere completely out of the water, i dont know bout you but i dont like cruising down the river in a bass boat at 60 mph when a 30lb fish jumps outta the water and hits ya in the head, there everywhere
