Guest COACH J.
756!!!!!Congrats to Mr. Bonds! While we may not all agree on how much this means as a 22 year old I just saw the greatest record in sports fall. The biggest thing in baseball in my lifetime just happend and while we all may or may not like Barry we cant argue with what he has accomplished.Like it or not Barry Bonds is the Homerun King and I think every true baseball fan owes him a congradulations. Sure he isnt a very likable guy and he hasnt handled himself to well over the years but he just made history and I got to see itWOW!If I had to put up with some of the stuff he puts up with I probably wouldnt be to nice either! And how cool was it to see Willy Mays out on the feild with him that was great. All the steroid talk all the cheating and bad things going on in sports should be forgotten about for at least this one night and lets think about how great AMERICAS GAME is and how significant this record is. Congrats Barry Bonds you deserve it....
Hoosierbuck
I don't think he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Hank Aaron. He's a cheater. HB

Guest Finn
Yeah, it's quite an accomplishment. Steroids are probably a factor, but it's still impressive. The bad press, however, he's brought that on himself. I feel if he weren't such a HUGE JERK, people would be embracing him like a hero. I look forward to the day we never have to see his huge potato head or hear his pompous attitude.
muggs
What's really funny is the fact that I saw he was coming up to bat and turned on King of Queens. It's not that I'm one of the outright haters, I just could really care less because it's not the true record. I'm just glad we don't have to hear about it anymore. Tony
so its ok to break any record anyway you can? no morals, no ethics, no rules, just break the record. so it wouldnt matter if a new guy did Roids and had a loaded bat and broke this record? i wonder how a man can stand there and talk to the heavens to his deceased dad and know what he done to achieve that record. how he can actually look dead in the eyes of the public and know what hes done. its a shame and a black mark on baseball and in time his record will be broken. hopefully the same way Hammering Hank broke the Babes record. the honest way, the straight way, the moral and ethical way. Shoot Strong Tony
muggs
Tony, I guess my point is, no one will ever look at Bond's record as the true record, so what value does it have? None. Also, everyone seems to forget about the ongoing investigation Congress is performing right now. They could uncover a lot of evidence and they just might pull the record from the books anyway. Another point to consider is the fact that he's not the only roids user and many of these HR's undoubtably were hit off of pitchers who where juiced too. So really, just because he's going for a record shouldn't be the only reason people are after him, and him alone. You either treat every MLBer this way, or none of them. I consider myself a true baseball fan, and I'll turn this back on you, if you are a true baseball fan of AMERICAS (sic) GAME, you'd be upset with what some of these guys have done to the game. *

Going to be lots of value for that ball, that guy better sell it before it goes down in value.:D
buckbuster11
Couldn't care less. Glad it's over. I didn't even tape it let alone watch it. Saw it on Sportscenter this morning. That's to bad because normally for something of this magnitude I would be staying up to watch or taping all of the games.
Guest COACH J.
To all you old timers this may not mean anything but to me a young guy who loves baseball it means alot! This is my generation and its how it is so except it! If baseball didnt want steroids they should have tested. Im not saying its right im just saying its how it is and ill be darn proud someday to tell my kids I saw Barry Bonds become the homerun King!I know there are alot and I mean alot of people my age that feel the same way. I still think baseball is a great game not a sic game and im proud to say that somebody that I have grown up watching is the homerun King! Tominator
I think that is a sad and sick comment!! LOL--I was making light of your.......nevermind, you obviously don't know what "sic" means. I guess I'll just have to "except" that. You rationalize it anyway you want, some of us "oldtimers" remember the pure unadulterated game. Please tell me this is not the message you are passing along to kids you coach. Never said they were ok I think they are wrong but im not gona bash a game that I love because some guys may or may not be juiced. I am a big NFL fan I dont bash the NFL because of the things the players do. I dont see you guys doing anything but talkin good about the NFL when there are drugs and wife beating and dui's and who knows what else! Im a COWBOYS FAN and Irvin just got in the hall of fame I watched it and enjoyed even though he is a drugy! I would say drugs or driving under the influence of alcohol are way worse than steroids but I dont sit and bash the NFL or any other sport because of it! Im just saying why do we always have to focus on the bad things why not look at the good and enjoy it. He broke a huge record and I enjoyed watching it! Tominator
Im just saying why do we always have to focus on the bad things why not look at the good and enjoy it. Because the bad things are ruining the good things. Here's an analogy. Say you're out hunting, and you see a 200" Booner on the neighbor's property and you shoot it, drag it over to your property, tag it and measure it and it turns out to be a new world record. Hey, you got a record, right? Who cares how you did it, right?

I dont think we are bashing the game of baseball but bashing Barry Bonds. You have been a member here for about a month hang around a bit and you will see we will discuss/debate/bash all NFL/NBA/NASCAR/ALL SPORTS players that do wrong/dumb/silly/illegal things. :) Im just saying why do we always have to focus on the bad things why not look at the good and enjoy it. He broke a huge record and I enjoyed watching it! We focus on the bad things cause thats what these guys are ALWAYS doing and what the media spoon feeds us daily. If you actually think about the last month or so in sports what good has come from ANY sport..... NBA- ref gambling on games NFL - Vick and dog fighting MLB - steroids NASCAR - (its not a sport:p:D but) Cursing during live interviews. GOLF - The claim on players using steroids
buckbuster11
Coach J, I dont know how old you are but I'm 24 and I agree with all of the "old timers" in here. I have alot of friends that are my age that would also agree with the "old timers" in here. In fact, I can't think of one that wouldn't agree with them. Barry used to be my favorite player growing up, I still have over 80 baseball cards of his. But, he cheated, and he's made a complete disgrace to this game and the most amazing record in the history of sports. And so has everybody else in this steroid era. McGwire, Sosa, Giambi...all of them.

muggs
Why Bonds stands out is due to the fact that he started juicing midway through his career. Guys who start the juice in college or the minors might not stand out as much, but they're just as guilty. Take a guy like Pujols for example. His rookie year, that manchild was so juiced he was bigger than Big Mac. No wonder he raked jacks like a seasoned veteran.
