billygoat
The wife got me the base layer of scent lock clothing (pants, top, and head cover)... My question is: Is it worth the $40.00 for the Scent Lock Storage bag... and do I need to do anything special with the clothing?
wtnhunt
Re: Scent Lock storage bag? Never owned any scent lok stuff and not sure about how it has to be kept. 5 bucks for a large plastic tote from wal mart and it will hold a lot more gear than the $40 bag. That would keep foreign odors out of the clothing. If it were not scent lok I would suggest throwing in a few scent wafers or some cedar limbs and you are good to go. Not sure though, seems someone in here not too long back said that you do not want to use scent wafers with your scent lok stuff, because it would plug the pores of the scnet lok clothing which are supposed to adsorb the human scent . tedicast
Re: Scent Lock storage bag? I have 2 of these bags from Cabelas. They are no where near as expensive as scent-lok bags. I use on to just keep my scent-lok clothes in, and the other with my non scent-lok clothes, and I keep a scent wafer in with them. Here is the link. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/purchase/products-found.jhtml?_requestid=4702 I can easily fit a jacket, pants, 3 shirts, hat facemask, arm gaurd etc into one of these bags. They are very durable too. If i have a long hike to my hunting area. I strap one of these bags with my outerwear onto my climber, or backpack. tedicast
Re: Scent Lock storage bag? I can't make the link work for some reason.... the bags are item# QR-930796. You can go to cabela's website, and type that # in the box in the upper left where it says catalog quick order. Sorry I can't make the link work. dogdoc
Re: Scent Lock storage bag? i also have the cabela brand bag and it works great. I have the cheap $5 plastic bag from wal-mart too--it works ok but is a pain to close and keep closed. todd
ScottyLuck
Re: Scent Lock storage bag? Cabela's bags here as well. $10 compared to $40. They work just as well and are more durable than the Scent Lok bags. I use the Cabela's bags for transporting my clothes into the field as well. Guest DaHunter
Re: Scent Lock storage bag? Well i just use a trash barrel that i keep sealed and it seems too do the trick. besides alot of room in there and only around 10 bucks. billygoat
Re: Scent Lock storage bag? Thanks guys... I just wasn't certain whether the carbon clothing needed to be stored differnently than other clothing... but it doesn't appear so!

I just wasn't certain whether the carbon clothing needed to be stored differnently than other clothing... but it doesn't appear so! [/ QUOTE ] The onr thing that I have read, that is important to storing carbon activated clothing, is to make sure they aren't stored with a cover scent. I use to scent frre bags. One with all my normal clothes, and I put an HS Scents Earth Scent Wafer in that bag. The second bag has my Scent-Lok, with no wafer. I have read that if you store scent lok, in a container with a cover scent, it will diminish the scent blocking ability.
Missed160
Re: Scent Lock storage bag? I keep all of my stuff in the green Scent Lock travel bags.. I love them. Plenty of room for cold weather stuff. I think they are worth it, they never rip, good zippers, keep clothes scent free..
