Shaun_300
hey, i was wonderin who all here feeds deer? my uncle does and man is it ever neat!! he'll give em oats and corn twice a day right in his back yard, and they come about 12 feet from the house, there just like their pets!! i was over there tonight and my brother and my cousin were sittin leaned up on the back of his house watchin them, 14 came into the back yard at one time. didnt mind a bit that they had an audience it was funny, the fawns are little trouble makers, always pickin fights with the bigger ones, then since the bucks have already lost their horns, they paw at the others!! LMAO! it is really comical to watch.
billygoat
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? Well I live in the middle of town... and our city has a ban/restriction on feeding deer (our city is overwhelmed with deer)... so let's just say... I have a lot of bird feeders around the house... and a garden that grows the best sweet corn in the city... just never gets "picked". NY911Bowhunter
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? nope - illegal to feed deer here. We put out corn for the turkeys and squirrels though!

Ravin R10 man
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? i used to be able to feed on the back side of my property and keep the deer a 1/2 mile away from the road....however the all knowing dnr now wont let us do that, but its ok to feed within 50 yards of a business open to the public(as long as its more than 50 yards from a highway posted at 45 mph). SOOOOOOO now the deer will all come across a county highway to get fed. all 100 of them!!
Hillbilly
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? I'll put out corn for the tree rats, and the deer just happen to eat all of it wink wink. I also put out apples, but I dont think it's illegal to feed them in Indiana. I stop feeding them 2 months before bowseason.
Shaun_300
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? ya the deer season is over here in this region of ontario (renfrew county - ottawa area) so we feed them. there's quite a bit of snow so its hard for them to find food around here. thats weird that u cant feed the deer in ur area
HuntingInMaine
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? My dad lives in PA and feeds the deer there...very cool to go up the hill, scoop out the feed and see heads start popping up over the top of the hill! I just want to add that if this is something you want to try, be sure you are ready to commit both the time and money to feed them throughout the entire winter or you will be doing them more harm than good! wtnhunt
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? We feed them with food plots year round. Illegal to hunt over bait here, but you can feed the deer so long as the bait is removed 10 days prior to hunting. We have put some corn out before in the past in the spring and summer, but did not this past year. Think we are going to start feeding them again this spring around our camera. SaskMan
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? I do, alfalfa, peas, oats, wheat etc.... I start when the season ends in early Dec. I've already went through 6 or 7 square bales and 1200+ pounds of grain. I have a feeling it'll cost me some more loot this year and they are really in there now that we got alot of snow, over a foot last couple days. I like it though and the $$ does not bother me. I do it for selfish reasons.......sheds!
David_218
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? Yes, I feed the Deer, on my property in the winter, at a rate of 50 pounds of shelled corn per week. Also feed the Squirrels and Birds.

MUDRUNNER
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? WE USE TO PUT OUT FEED AFTER DEER SEASON AND INTO SPRING TO REPLENISH A LITTLE ENERGY FOR THE DEER,BUT THE DNR MADE IT ILLEGAL MOSTLY BECAUSE OF CWD. Tominator
Re: Do You Feed Deer?? Well, kind of. What I'll do is wander my neighbor's property and pick up waste grain that the combines miss, and I'll toss that out in my field. It probably amounts to less than a few bushels, but in some inept way, I think it benefits the wildlife. I was glad I did that after a recent ice storm. Almost all of the corn I threw back there is now gone. I was flushing 5 or 6 pheasants every time I went back there when the ice was on. I did not see any deer tracks back there. The deer in my area seem to vacate the area and yard up who knows where.
