I was in the stand yesterday deer watching, and I saw seven coons walking around on the forest floor and the tree tops. On the ground there was a mom and two kits, who looked old enough to survive on their own. I wanna shoot some coons, would it be OK for me to shoot the mom?

Or should I just finish the whole family off?

Thanks for the help guys,

Joe

Buckee I wouldn't THINK of shooting one out of season. I like to think of myself as a responsible hunter, and I really do love to watch the coons. When i wrote this thread I was mistaken on coon season in wisconsin, so I neglected to put that in there, my fault. Sorry about that.

But once coon season in october comes around those coons 'r mine.

does wisconsin`s furbearer and bowhunting seasons run together ?? If they do, coons make great target practice..

i run coons with dogs quite a bit and we do our share of killin them when season rolls around...The first thing i ever killed with my new X tec last year was 2 big Rascals! tipped the scales at 22 pounds...

Coach J I know what u mean bud they are very photogenic little creatures, tons of pics of them having a midnight snack with the Bucks and Does

I shot one last novemeber with a bow, never again. I ended up shooting it 4 times and that was just so I could get the rest of my arrows back. They are tough as nails, I shot him twice with judo points, one of them in the head, and twice with broadheads and wont ever be trying this again with a bow. The arrows get wrapped up in their fur and they just walk off with them. If you hunt them, use a .22 or something similar and go after them at night. If you want a real challange, try calling them in with a predater call, thats a ton of fun and will keep you sharp in the off season.
