Have found that crossings on small rivers and funnels or pinch points along rivers can be extremely productive.

If you find a spot where they are crossing then yes a river set up can be very productive.

In my experience, yes, however, you really have to watch the wind as you will normally find rivers in low areas where the wind swirls quite a bit.

I'd shy away form areas where there are rapids. The noise affects a deer's ability to detect danger. Thus, they avoid such areas and so should you. Otherwise, I agree with other posters. River crossings are excellent stand choices.

I absolute love to hunt creek bottoms. Almost every buck I have shot has come from a creek or river bottom.

Its a good place to hunt. Look and see if you can get close to your setup with a canoe. You wont spread any scent and sometimes will be less likely to bump deer as you go in.

I think at is very productive, I have one stand 20' from a river bank, but just make sure it's quiet flowing river that doesn't make the deer wary of the area.
