snapper Posted August 16, 2007 Report Share Posted August 16, 2007 Borax is prob. the cheapest and easiest stuff anyone can get and works well. If you know a taxidermist or maybe even try calling one to see if they can give you some of the stuff they use. Not sure what the name of it is...but its also a white powder...little finer powder than Borax and seems to work a little faster. Borax will work fine though. snapper Posted August 16, 2007 Report Share Posted August 16, 2007 Thinking I may have read your post to quickly...if your looking for something to dry out the "meaty/bone" area to prepare it for a mount...use the Borax. If its already done and your looking for something to put on it to protect it...not sure on that. I never put anything on my full turkey mounts or feathers...just give them a dusting once in a while.
