elkoholic
It is often said that the flash from a trail camera will scare off a big buck, but these two pictures, taken 7 seconds apart, show that this particular buck has moved very little after the first flash. He was really giving the camera the eye in the first picture as he obviously heard it come out of sleep mode and charge the flash. I am sure he saw spots after the flash, but just went back to feeding.
Guest bowhunter56
I don't think it bothers them, i have taken hundreds of pictures over the years, and they just stand there, and pose..
Guest Finn
Nice buck....I don't think the flash bothers them. Been on stand when it flashes and they rarely blink. Just one time, when a doe had been spooked by a grouse and was coming back in when the flash went off, she jumped a little....otherwise, nothing
wtnhunt
Saw an interesting bit on north american whitetail over the weekend where Dr James Kroll explained a little on deer eye sight, he basically said a deers eyesight during daytime when it is bright is likely comparable to a blinding whiteout. Have watched deer at one of my cams on several occasionsI dont really think the flash bothers them too much either. Think human scents left behind at cameras are more likely to bother them then the flash.
Rhino
Nice buck. Around here it just depends on the particular deer. Some have spooked from the flash while others just hang around like everything is fine in their world.
TreeWalker
My experience has been: (1) Digital trail cams = little to no spooking (2) Film cameras = alot of spooking I think on the 35mm cams, it is the sound of the actual camera, film advance, etc...that spooks them
SuperMn106
I think up here where I live, around my area the bigger bucks are spooked by the flash. It is legal to shine up here so we have a lot of shiners and a lot of people poaching in our area. So i think the deer might get spooked from that. toddyboman
I think it depends on the deer. Nice buck by the way!
