Nope. I adore the idea, however I cant justify a monthly payment.

Its the little things that will nickle and dime you to death. Id have a lot more money if it weren't for Satellite, DSL, Magazine superscriptions, Trash bills, etc. Adding a little more to that stack doesn't appeal to me when music is literally everywhere.

Again, I love the idea and if it were as simply as buying a player and not having to pay a monthly subscription... Id be all over it.

I have XM, used to have Sirius and XM is far superior IMO. The monthly payment is very justified as far as I'm concerned. I even pay for my dad's and sister's at a discounted rate thanks to the family plan.

We do that too. We went ahead and paid for two years and got like half off.

I like listening to music with NO COMMERCIALS!

I've heard the same and am hoping they do. I wonder, though, if you'll have to buy a new receiver when/if they do.

One of the shows I listen to on XM talks about it quite a bit and they have XM VP Eric Logan on a lot and they're working on a way to make it possible for all receivers to pick up both signals, even though they were designed specifically not to. But they say that no one will have to buy a new receiver unless they just want to.

I still think the merger is probably not going to happen because Sirius CEO, Mel Carazin (sp?) became a big enemy of the FCC when he was Howard Stern's boss on terrestrial radio and the FCC has to vote to allow the merger. In the original contract with the FCC both companies agreed to never merge if it would leave only one satellite company and satellite radio isn't a cheap endeavor. "Mom and Pop Satellite" won't be launching any satellites anytime soon.

But, who knows, the FCC may just let this go through because both companies combined will still only have about 15 million subs.
