It seems that every guy has fond memories about the first car they ever owned and their first girlfriend (although in some cases both we're more trouble than they we're worth.) Still it seems every guy can remember all of the details about the very first car they owned. I'll start things off by telling you about mine. It was a 1967 Chevy Impala fastback. 2 door hard top with a 327 c.i.d V-8 with a 4 bbl carb. 275 hp. 10.25 to 1 compression. headers and painted in "medeteranina blue metalic." That car was very very good to me. Never had any trouble with it. Now it's your turn for a trip down memory lane.

1966_opel_Medium_.jpg

1966 Opel Kadett.

67 hp

$1944.

Only drove it for 11 months before I went into the Navy, and let my Dad take care of it for me.

When I got home it had 140,000 mi. and didn't even look like the car I had left behind, and had been paying for.

I should have sold it before I left home, but when I was young and foolish, I was young and foolish.

....popgun

All my friends call mine "The Beast". It was a 1978 Ford LTD. It was white with a gold vinal top that was torn about 1/2 off, the windshild looked like a roadmap (I don't think it was really legal) and had so many dents you had to turn sideways in the drivers seat, pull the handle with the toe of one foot and kick with the other to open the door. I used a tire iron to open it from the outside.:D

My brother blew up the 351 Winsor that was in it and my dad had a friend with a 400 Big Block that we dropped into it when I got it. Another friend was rebuilding his Galaxy 500 and gave me his Holley 850 double pumper off of it.

That car could smoke the tires clean off it. Just for fun I would take T/A's and Camaro's off the line and leave them in my dust. Lots of fun in a POS like that.

1960 Dodge Dart!

It was a 1960 Dodge Dart. Slant 6 and wide open with the wind was about 80mph! Of course, that was going downhill also!

It had pushbotton drive!

Baby blue in color!

It did the job for me and if I remember right, I paid $850.00 for it in 1963!

1981 Chevy Chevette. Piece of garbage. I had it 1 1/2 years and went through 2 clutches (it had the absolute smallest pressure plate I've ever seen) and a differential and sold it for $150. Then I got my camaro and I wish I still had it now.

My first car could've been a 69 Camaro with a 400 and a 4 speed, but my dad thought it would be a money pit and the Chevette would be more reliable. He was wrong. My friend ended up buying the 69 and it still runs like a top today, 18 years later, with minimal work aside from routine maintenance.

sluggunner--welcome back, buddy!!!

I've been trying to forget my first car. My little sister and I shared a 1980 Chevy Malibu. It was tan, tan, tan everywhere and it blew three transmissions.

The first car I bought on my own was a 1980 or 1982 Pontiac Phoenix which was also a piece of junk.

Neither car turned the ladies' heads---I just had to rely on my good looks...LMBO

Man Shaun....I don't know how you drove that Cavalier. I had a Cavalier as a loaner and I had the seat all the way back and reclined as much as I could and my knees were still at my chin and head touching the ceiling....and your taller than me! As for my first vehicle...It was a 1989 Chevy s10 regular cab 4X4.

I had a silver 1978 Mustang II....bought it from an uncle for $1500 when I graduated in 1983.

Had a great trip to Sacremento, San Diego, Phoenix and Dallas with my best friend before I went in the Air Force.

Great little car, but I sold it to get a 79 Camaro.....bad call, what a pos :(

I actually got two about the same time....

The first was a 1979 Chevy Cheyenne. Blue and white with a 350. $$$Free. My great uncle died and left it to me.

The other was a 1984 Cutlis (4-door) with cammed out 350, 350 turbo tranny, and an Edelbroch 4-barrel. It would hum! $450. A guy was trying to rebuild the engine and tranny and had no idea what he was doing. Reverse didn't work at all. We took it home and spent a week on it. It ran great after that.

1980 Pontiac J2000 POS. Hated that car, broke down all the time. I bought if from my dad as that was the car I had in high school. Had it for less than an year and traded it in for my first new car a 1984 black Camaro. 305 V-8, Z28 suspension, T-tops. I loved that car. I drove it to California and back, and Florida and back a few times, but ended up selling it in my last year of the Coast Guard because I was out to sea and never had a chance to really drive it. I sold it to my cousin.

My 1st car was a black 1957 Chevy hardtop.

Not a speed demon though with a 235 flathead 6 under the hood. Not quick on the shift either with a 3 speed on the column. The worst thing about it was no AC and being black with black bucket seats it was HOT in the summer where I lived in Louisiana at that time.
