stevebeilgard
we never forget our first car, do we. i got a new '66 olds 442, midnight blue. the first week they came out. i ordered it in april, and got it about mid september of '65. i went into service in april of '66, when it was about 6 months old. parked it in my dads back yard, covered up, and in december of '66 i called my folks and told them i was coming home for christmas, and was going to take my car back. mom said" didn't we tell you.. we sold it?" i was in shock. never consulted, never asked. just sold my baby.... when i got married in '69, i had a new convertible for a wedding gift. thanks, mom & dad (both now deceased). i guess they figgured out my disappointment. self
I have had more trucks than any person my age should have ever had by now but the first truck I got to LEGALLY drive was a 2002 Chevrolet Z71 Ext Cab Black with a 5.3l I still have it and im still driving it Ive had it for a year and a half now. Ive put a 3 inch lift (suspension) cowl hood painted grille with black halo head lights and painted emblem...all thanks to a deer I hit last fall. I hit it with the brush guard on and everything and the brushguard came back and hit the hood, busted the grill and headlights. They gave me 4 grand for damages so I had to buy the stuff I wanted. HarvDog
'77 Chevy Nova - automatic, 4 door, light blue, rebuilt 308 engine. Nothing super quick but it certainly held up to my horsing around.
muggs
1994 Dodge Daytona with a 4-bangger. I hated it with a passion. The car had all kinds of electrical problems and one day it started burning out the brake light fuse (20 amper) due to an electrical short. The last day I owned the car, the fuse blew out over a friends house as we were getting read to go to a party. He didn't have any 20 amp fuses, but he did have a 25 amper. Not willing to miss out on all the girls at this party, and being the morons we were, we thought that would be fine. We were wrong. About 5 mintues into our drive, blue flames and smoked started shooting up from the steering column. We stopped jumped out and ran to the nearest house. A guy answered the door, ran to his garage and produced a fire extinguisher the size of a bottle of coke. By the time we ran back to the Dodge, that extinguisher might as well have been a bottle of seltzer because it wasn't gonna do anthing. There were flames about 10 feet above the car and a huge plume of black smoke that must have gone up about 100 feet in the air. Fire Dept. finally had to put the bad boy out. I did make out on the insurance money though, used that to buy a Z28camaro.
257bob
The last time I saw this kind of a post come around I had the oldest, first vehicle on the thread. Looks like I still hold that title. I started with a 1951 Willys CJ -3A and I still have it. It has a flat head 4 cylinder and will climb straight a wall. Top speed of about 45 mph. I have had many new vehicles and to this day it is still my favorite. BTW....this vehicle was 28 years old when I was born and it was also my dad's first vehicle, lots of history in that jeep. It'll be in the family forever. It will be my son's first vehicle as well.
Dawg
1998 Ford Mustang Coupe, V6, 5 spd stick sift, dark green with tinted windows, the back one was so dark you couldn't see in with a flashlight! Wasn't the fastest around but it served it's purpose. Got a ticket for spinning the tires........showing off:rolleyes:...........it wouldn't cut off at 100 mph like the others for some reason the governor didn't work, I had it up between 115 and 120 one time. Had 2 Rockford Fosgate 10's in a Q-logic box in the trunk with 2 6X9's in the back dash and 2 5 1/2 Memphis speakers in the doors with a 600 Boss amp............still have ringing in my ears. Got this car because my wife (who at the time was my girlfriend) wanted me to. Was gonna get a Ford Ranger in the same year model and color, but I was young and wanted to impress the girlfriend so that's what I got.
