txsbuda
I'd like to know if anyone has any success stories with regard to bowhunting out of a pop-up blind. Got an opportunity to hunt the national forest. Not experienced enough for climbing, yet, so I'd like to hear your stories or opinions about this type of set up. Thanks in advance. Gator
First three deer I killed with a bow came from off the ground. I always tucked myself up into some trees with some good cover behind me and to my sides and front, but with a small opening. Furthest shot was about 15yds
Guest bowhunter56
It seems you see more guys using blinds, i have even noticed the pro staffers shoot more deer out of blinds in archery season..
buckee
I hunt in Ground-blinds all the time. As much or more (lately) than tree-stands. They are very successful. You still have to pay attention to the wind, and try to get your blind to blend in well with the surroundings, but they are just as successful as tree-stands. Rhino
I'm not sure how many deer I've killed from ground blinds bowhunting. I do know I've killed 5 bucks that way and passed up numerous bucks inside the 25 yard line. We won't talk about the bucks I've missed. Doe numbers are probably somewhere around 25 from ground level. For a number of years running I was killing more deer from the ground than from treestands. Mine have all been either netted blinds with brush added or just natural blinds I made myself. The better they blend into your surroundings the more apt the deer are to not notice them. If memory serves the first season I hunted from a ground blind was 1992. I had so much success doing it I kept on doing it. There weren't any commercial blinds back in those days. Back in the early days people down here thought I was nuts until they saw me bringing deer in that I killed that way. Then some of them got on the bandwagon too. My first 10 point buck bow kill was from a ground blind in October 1993. I missed a couple more that year too. Oops we weren't going to talk about those. hoytbowhunter
Yeah pop-up ground blinds are a great tool for the bow hunter these days but in my option if you are going to hunt whitetails from it you will defiantly want to brush it in and make it blend as well with the environment as you can. In my experience deer have a knack at picking them out if they aren't.
huntinguide
me and my buddy doubled up on 2 bucks last year off the ground
John Porter
I got my Maine buck last yr in a Ameristep ground blind. was a 9 pointer that topped the scales at 210 pounds. I love using them as you can set them up in minutes and make little or no noise. John

mule659
I've had several deer get within 30 yards or so on the ground. As long as you make it look good you should have great luck.
