SuperMn106
Hey guys, I have some pictures that I have taken that I would like to frame and matte. My question is how should I go about doing this? Do I go with an 8x10 or a little bigger? Most of them are of sunrises and sunsets with a couple being of wildlife. Thanks for any help. billkay
Typically you would go with a frame that is 1 size larger, the difference being made up by the matte board. But personal preference should be the final factor. A good framer should be able to help you chose colors and frame styles that will enhance the photo. They should be able to place at least a matte corner on the image to give you some idea of how it will look.
LifeNRA
Framing and matting can be real cool and look great too! But then can can also be very expensive! The pictures I have taken through out the years hanging in my home are just framed. $5 to $15 per frame, compared to $100 and up for a custom frame and matting. My father recently got some prints that he had custom framed, looks awesome. But he paid about $125 for it too. Smaller one shouldn't be that expensive. billkay
When I did a lot of framing of my pix years ago, I used frames that I bought for less than a $1 at garage sales. Even if they were odd sizes, a matte will make it fit perfectly. A custom cut mattte should cost less than $10.
LifeNRA
LOL! I never had time to do it myself. But that's an great idea! I was talking about seeing a custom framer, then you knew that too!
SuperMn106
Thanks guys. I might have to make them myself. I think the hardest thing for me is matching the matte color to the picture.
