This is all very true...my preception changed the moment I heard the kid speak, and then saw his poise. Keep in mind, the guy missed 16 days of camp, was only in camp for 11 days...they threw him right into the shotgun formation and he handled it all and seem to have a better grasp of the offense then the three QBs who've been in camp all along. The result, the Browns 2nd and 3nd TD drives of the preseason.

Not just any player can come in and do that.

It was all the defense and the running game DB. Crennel could have came in there and played QB as well as he did.

Actually, your statement is not true at all DB. Did you watch the game, or are you just basing this idea off of the stats and what highlights you saw?

He handled a pretty intense rush from his blindside perfectly (Anderson would have been drilled and them fumlbed, Frye would have tried to run the ball into the endzone and gotten stuffed at the 2). Quinn picked up the blitz really quick, began to roll out of the pocket and threw a nice running pass to a tightly covered receiver for his first TD pass.

That throw was perfect too, the wideout was covered. I know it was a 3rd string d-back in the receivers back pocket, but he was in his back pocket none-the-less. Plus, it was a 3rd string receiver catching it, so wouldn't that place him on the same level as the defender DB?

Quinn went through his progressions quickly and correctly (something Frye can't do) and made the right decision each time, he did not turn the ball over or make other major mistakes. That's all you can ask...he came in and did his job. You really can't take away from that DB.;)

You need to back and watch the game DB. Sure, he hit checkdowns...ironically enough, when pressured and when that's all he had...that's what a QB is supposed to do especially in that situation.:)

Plus, guys struggling for a defensive rosters spot, who have only the preseason to make an impression...are always "trying." OK- schools out.

Yup. Saw that quote...what a born leader huh? Very modest.

LMAO.

I can see Muggs in a knife fight and the guy stabs him in the liver.

Muggsy---"Ouch. Good shot. You got my liver. But you do know that a liver stab isn't necessarily deadly. In fact, there are at least 5 more organs that if stabbed are more deadly. So really, if you think about it......I could be considered winning this fight. So next time, if you're gonna stab me....make it count, bub." And then he dies.

:D:D

Yup. That's funny Kev.:D

Kev in a fight- Kev lunges with knife, completely misses and hits nothing but air...the other guy then proceeds to stab him. "Hey, you stabbed me! That's so like you."

:D:D

Anyway, what did you expect Quinn to say "Yeah, I looked great out there...heck, first NFL game situation, go right into the shotgun and I come out and drive the ball into the end zone two times in a row. Yeah, sure, I'd like to see that DB Chuck Frye do that."....I don't think so.

Again, good non-point John, you do realize when Kev gets your back it actually discredits your point, don't you? If I were you I'd send a discrete and polite PM to him and ask him to stop. That's just me though.

You do realize that you are the biggest homer on this site right? :D

Example, you ripping people to shreds about posting good things about their teams/players in the preseason and saying "it's only the preseason.....it doesn't count" but then turning around and thinking your team/players are the greatest ever because of their preseason performances is well........you being a hypocrite once again.;)

Yeah, or like calling someone a stats geek and going into a diatribe of how stats can be manipulated and misleading. Then promptly, two days later when questioned about his own opinion, breaks out more stats than an ESPN anchor.:D

And yet when someone calls him on the sudden change of heart, begins another diatribe on how arguments must be supported by stats.

:D

Do you guys always put this much stock in preseason games???

No, the only time you put stock into a preseason game is when the Browns win and one of their players does good.

Other then that, preseason means nothing.

I wonder what will happen when Quinn lover boy goes 3-11 13 yards and an INT this weekend. I bet it "won't count" because it's only preseason.:D

John, you do realize that was Toddy who said , not me. Geez, goes to show all the other members what I'm dealing with here. Can't even keep RT members straight when there's a screenname and avatar right there to help you ID and differenciate.

btw- I didn't mention stats once in the BQ discussion, did I? All I said was his players respect him in the huddle, he displayed poise and leadership, made no mistakes and did what a QB should do it that situation, was modest afterwards, and that was his first action imagine what he'll be like in 2010.

Here I usually would say something like "do I really need to spell it out for you guys?" But that's exactly what we do here at RT...spell things out for each other...and that hasn't worked once since I've been bickering with you both all these years, so it never will.:o

Remember stats nerds...40 time and the # of times a guy can benchpress 225 lbs. means nothing on the football field. It's the intangibles that make a good pro. btw- Brady Quinn benched 225 lbs. 24 times at the combine!!!!!!!!!!!:eek: (sarcasim and hypocracy intended DB's::)) It's true though...kid threw it up 24 times.

I know who I quoted DB....where did you get the idea that I thought Toddy was you?

Unbelieveable.:)

Dude, did you hear what I said? 225 lbs. 24 times, and that's a QB doing that.

btw- check it out... "BQ" is the "QB"...it's destiny man, he was born to play the position.
