Dog foot pad question

cut pads can take a while to heal. Unfortunately pads don't hold sutures well so we usually just let them heal on their own. My favorite bitter tasting ointment is a product called Bitter Orange. It is an ointment not a spray so you can apply it to the skin and hair around the pad and not affect/irritate the actual open cut. There is a product called EMT gel that you can get at many sporting good stores that carries dog supplies--it is applied directly to the would to help prevent infection and aid in healing. The problem is most dogs just lick it off as quick as you put it on. The most important thing you can do is keep it clean. Flush and clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide twice a day--this will get all the dirt and ground particles out of the would and speed up healing.

good luck
