rad_112176
I was shooting my bow today and tried shooting with both eyes open. It really seamed to help me on my longer yardage shots ( 30 to 40 ). At 20 yrds it was a much better group with one eye shut. How do most of you guys shoot as far as one eye closed or both eyes open? The guys that shoot with both eyes open, do you think there is something that makes this a better way to shoot? I know i just need to shoot what makes me a better shot, but interested to hear both sides of this one. Thanks .

JimPic
I shoot both open. You get a better field of vision, better depth perception and quicker target aquisition
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
i am left eye dominant and shoot right handed so both eyes open is out of the question for me.

Washi
I usually have both eyes open until just before I make the shot.

revhard
I agree with JimPic.. seems to give better depth perception. and in low light conditions, you need all the help you can get!
Tony
i used to shoot with one eye closed. but got into shooting with both open after a friend recomended that i try it. it sure helped me see dark targets on 3d courses better. so i just started shooting with both open. but you must shoot which way works for you. i shot for many years with one eye closed and have done very well. sometime during the summer is best to try it. that way you can decide if it works for you. im a firm believer that the last month before bow season starts you should have all your problems solved and be practicing the same shooting form and gear you will be hunting with. not only does this build confidence, but it saves on headaches and frustration. that way you go into the season like a well oiled machine and you wont be running around trying to get everything done 1 week before the season. hutchies
One eye.......Never could focus when trying both eyes.
Bownarow
hutchies said: One eye.......Never could focus when trying both eyes. This is a good point. I have a hard time focusing with both eyes completely open too. I've found that if I open my left eye slightly, just enought to let in more light and visibility, then it doesn't fight my right eye for focus. Bowtech_archer07
I can shoot either way. When I shoot with one eye open it helps me focus in on the target and only the spot that i'm aiming at. When I shoot with both eyes open I can see everything around the target as well as the target but I have a little more trouble focusing in on the spot that i'm aiming at.
