tedicast
I want some opinions on scoring a leg hit on a 3D target. After the shoot today, Jen and I stopped for ice cream. While we were there, 2 guys from our club, Jack, and Bert, and one of their friend showed up. We got BS'ing while we waited in line, and Jen mentioned that she missed winning the womens division by 4 points, and that she had a goose egg, that was a leg hit. All 3 of the guys we were talking to said that a leg hit isn't a zero, that they call it a nickel. Any part of the animal is a nickel. I was taught, that a leg hit, below the bodyline, was a zero, and that is the way I have been scoring it since I started shooting. Here is the I.B.O. definition on scoring... a. Scores will be tabulated as follows: i. 11 points - 11 ring or “X” ring centered inside the 10 ring ii. 10 points - 10 ring or heart iii. 8 points - Vital iv. 5 points - Body v. 0 points - Miss or arrow not touching body color The way I read the IBO rules, is that a leg hit is a 5, being that it is a body colored portion of the deer How does everyone else score??? Gator
I ahve always scored it that anything in the foam, is a 5, no matter where the hit is
MCH
Foam counts as a 5 as long as its not a hoof or antlers. Some of the smaller targets like the bobcat and the groundhog will have a rock or a log made of foam which is the same as the hoof/antler. For instance, on a bedded buck, its hoof is near the ground. An arrow stuck in the black would be scored a zero. Bottom line?? Jen should've won the women's division....no if's and's or but's.
hutchies
I feel the same way as Kevin and it has always been that way at every shoot I have gone to.
