Bachflock
We're taking our oldest down to Pensacola for college starting the 28th. My wife's birthday is the 30th and this is a big trip for everyone. We're planning making it a week long trip - dropping my daughter off on the 31st and heading back to MI to arrive on the evening of the 3rd. I'm looking for suggetions to take in the experience - things to see/do along the way. Farthest south I've ever driven is Toledo (yeah, I'm a Yank that hasn't ventured much) so this is a big trip. I'm WIDE open for suggetions to make it more enjoyable/not just ROAD time. Thanks ahead of time!
Guest Andrea
Not sure about what you should see on the way, but once you get here, make sure you go to the beach. We have the prettiest beaches in the whole country. Pensacola's aren't as beautiful as Destin's but they are still pretty. Pristine white sand and pale blue/green water. Welcome to Florida!!!! billkay
Indy has some nice stuff to see downtown. Nashville is worth a stop for an evening on Broadway, all the old honky tonks and awesome music. There's also the Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Olde Opry. Nothing prettier than dead alewifes and scumlines! :D Actually they're beautiful as well and you hardly see alewives anymore. Yes, my wife has already put in a request that she get to the ocean! Steven
I used to drive I65 everyday from Nashville to Indy when I delivered for GM. Bowling Green has the Corvette museum and Corvette assembly plant right next door to each other. You can tour both if interested. It'll take probably 4-5 hours for both. spyderpancake
Am I correct in assuming that she is going to PCC? I will be a junior there this year, studying Business Management/Marketing...this her first year?
Bachflock
Yup - PCC. First year. I've already checked when she's done in the spring. May 7th won't work well! LOL If I get drawn for the early hunt that would be right around the last day of turkey hunt. Let's say I bag my bird with time to spare I might swing down to the Winchester Turkey Museum in SC but man, that'll be a tough one! May have to FedEx her home come spring! preacherman
Nashville has a big Bass Pro Shop and a big outlet mall to boot. Like was said earlier, you can always go to the Corvette museum in Bowling Green, KY. And like Andrea said, when you get to Pensacola, you are half way in between Destin and Gulf Shores, AL. We just got back from Gulf Shores and it is beautiful. Also, while in Pensacola, check out the Naval Museum it is pretty neat. They say that if you get there on the right day, you also get to watch the Blue Angels practice.
Norm Sauceman
Trip Well, when you come through Nashville yell real loud!! We are only about 75 miles east of there just off I-40. In Nashville, I-65, I-24 and I-40 all intersect in Nashville.
