mossberg 935, couple questions

So a guy I know (not personally, met him on some forums but he lives in my town and I will meet him soon) recently won a mossberg 935. He doesn't need it, so he has it up for sale for $400. It is new, never fired. It's got the black synthetic stock. I know he would be making some money off of it, but it would still be a better deal for me than I will ever get anywhere else.

Who all has these guns? I keep hearing stuff about them not being able to shoot 2 3/4" shells. Is this true or false? If it is false, can they shoot low brass 2 3/4"ers, or do they need to be a more powerful high brass load? Have any of you had problems with them jamming, other than when they first came out and didn't have all the bugs fixed yet?

The main thing that worries me is the quality of the gun. I know they are a cheaper autoloader to start with. I shoot an 835 now and I really don't like it much as it seems to jam, or somehow else screw up way to often. At one time, I had a shell stuck in the magazine. Then it started ejecting the spent shell, and at the same time, the unfired shell would fall out from underneath the reciever. Should I expect anything like this to happen with the 935?

I am wanting a semi-auto 3.5" 12 gauge, but didn't plan on buying one yet. I really wanted a SX2 or browning gold anyway, but those would be double the price of this gun. If I buy this one now, I could still probably trade it in at the end of the season or next summer for 300+ dollars and get the gun I want, if this one doesn't work out.

what do you guys think? buy it or pass?

If you don't like the 835, why buy a 935? Your gonna have a lot of guys on here say how great the mossy is. But when I buy a gun I want ZERO problems. I don't want to send it back, EVER. I would never even consider buying a Mossy 935. There is nothing worse than getting up at 2:30, driving an hour, walking into the blind, setting the decoys, freezing your ars off, waiting for birds, then when they come in your gun malfunctions. I've seen it happen and it not only ruins your day but whoever your hunting with. When companies offer really cheap products there is a reason. They are saving that money somewhere. If I won any Mossberg product I'd sell it right now. I can think of no other brand I'd sell right away. Sorry fellas, when it comes to semi-autos I'm not a "budget gun" guy. Maybe a single shot grouse plinker but not a 12 ga. semi.

I think you could get a 935 cheaper at a pawn shop or probably even a better brand for around that price.

No they don't eject low brass 2 3/4 inchers.

If the 935 is this years gun and has a field barrel then it can only shoot 3" and 3 1/2" shot shells only.

I got a new 935 sluggster w/ the CLB on it. I had it three days and had to send it back. They have had it two weeks now and no word from Mossberg. You can see my post on "I just don't have any luck" a little more info there. Good luck to ya.

Thats exactly the point I was making. Who cares how "good" the price is or how good the customer service is?If I had to send a gun back I'd be upset to say the least. I've heard of many mossy owners who have done just that.

I just bought my brother one. It does not eject 2 3/4" its a 3"-3 1/2" gun. The first auto mossburg 835 i think was a joke. Alot of problems with it. The 935 is decent gun. Its not a great gun but some cant afford a camo great gun. I would rather bought my brother a pump but he wanted a auto. I shoot a 06 superblack eagle II. Its awsome. But i payed $1400 for it with a turkey choke. I payed $459 for my brothers 935.
