Thanks for the tip and the link for YouTube! This is a very crucial tip, but I have a question, the link for the "rubber thingy" does not work anymore, do you know another place we can find this? Or if you have spares and willing to sell one, please let me know! Thank you .....

Home-made Center-shot Tool After looking at the laser ones, I knew I could make one just as good, but way, way cheaper...LOL

Here is an older type very similar to the one I made. I don't think they make these any more.

Here's my home-made Center-shot tool.

Try to get the hole in the wood straight...eh

Just pretend the rubber piece is the laser beam. Set it to the string first, while resting it just below where your rest screws on to your bow.

Once the rubber is set to mid string, flip the whole thing over, and adjust your REST (without moving the rubber) until the rubber is in the center of your arrow.

I paper tune a good bit and my bow shoots dead on but I notice a slight kick when I shoot rage broad heads and only rage any one run into this problems with rage ?

what's doing the slight kick? bow itself? tail end of your arrow? Rage heads have a pretty low profile so they shouldn't shoot much at all different than field points.

Paper tuning is the start of good tuning practice not the end. After paper tuning you should "Walk Back tune" and finally "Broadhead tune". There is a common misconception that mechanical heads do not need broadhead tuning. Broadhead tuning IS effective even on mechanical heads.

I've heard of many ways to position your hand while shooting your bow and have tried them all as well but I still find it more comfortable to hold tightly even though it makes me shoot a little less accurate. Any suggestions? :)

If you have small hands a smaller aftermarket grip will help you a lot. If the grip feels "FAT" in your hand your natural reaction is to squeeze it. There are several styles. They are not cheap. A local pro shop that's decent may have some you can try.

Agreed about paper tuning. Arrows are not like bullets - they flex and move after being shot. If you watch any slow motion video of arrows in flight you will see this. Therefore attempting to "paper tune" to a perfect hole is only good for that exact distance. A good arrow will line up at some point during the shot but you can't rely on paper tuning alone. Where it hits on impact is all that truly matters.

One thing we used to do back in the day to check wind, was to put a small drop of fletching adhesive on the underside of the top limb of our bow and stick about a 3" piece of thread to it so that it would just hang there. You would be able to check wind direction without moving around, as well being able to look at it while in full draw.

I'm new to hunting, what is paper tuning? Thanks.

Aaron

Paper tuning is one of the most common ways compound archers using mechanical releases determine whether their arrows are leaving their bows in a straight line.
