Guest KyKboss
This is my first post on here and i was just curious as to how many of ya were going to be going after whitetails while they are still in velvet and how many are going to wait. Our season here in KY starts next weekend and I'm sure most bucks will still be in velvet for a few more weeks.

Rhino
Welcome to the forum With an Oct. 1st opening day here it's rare for mature bucks to still be in velvet in my neck of the woods. It does happen on occasion but very rare.

toddyboman
Here in MO our season starts Sept 15, could possible catch one still in velvet but usually they are all already out. Would love to shoot a nice one in full velvet someday:)
Guest totalscaf
GA starts in 2 weeks so maybe, if not full then at least partial. I've been watching a nice 10 point all summer and as of 6 days ago he and 2 of smaller buddies were still full velvet. I've had a couple of chances but have never closed the deal on a velvet buck. Tominator
I've never seen a deer with velvet while hunting in Ohio. Our season usually opens first Saturday of October, but the last two years they've been adding that last weekend in September. Still too late for velvet I think. billkay
I'll be hunting eastern KY the first weekend. If I get a chance at a really good deer, velvet or not I will take it. A velvet deer would be cool, but not at the cost of an average deer.
muzzy916
in indiana are regular season starts october 1 but we have a city season that starts the 15th of september and if a velvet buck walks by i wont even think twice about it. i think the velvet is a neat chareterist when the are on the wall
Canuck2
Our archery season starts Sept 1 and rifle Sept 10; velvet here is usually rubbed mainly the first week of September but I've seen a few as late as mid month. I've shot 8 in vlevet over the years.
