Tennessee Get together??

A couple of years ago, many of the forum members (37) met at wilderness Hunting Lodge in Middle Tennessee ( Wilderness website ) and we had a blast. I was wondering if any of you would like to set up another hunt out there? It is mainly a hog-hunting facility, but there are numerous animals there to hunt from Buffalo to Red Stags.

Anyway, I can get us one or two of his lodges if you all want to hunt there and have a big get together.. We had a real blast and it was first and last time many of us got to hunt with and fellowship with Rich Dunkirk (BluElk) before his passing.

I can't tell you folks enough how much it meant to me to finally meet him and to be in the same camp with him. We rode around in my truck and talked a while and it was just a memory I will never forget.

We had such a great time there that I have been asked by some folks to try and do it again.

The nearest International airport is Nashvile and it is just about 90 miles from the lodge. You can fly there and rent a car for teh trip. Usually, the hogs hunts run $545 plus tax plus full processing (usually $80 for a hog)..The hunt is all-inclusive except for the tax and processing) All inclusive means - Lodging for 3 days, all meals, the hunt, guide if you want. THERE IS NO OUT-OF-STATE LICENSES!!!! It is a 1100 acre high-fence operation..Now, before you dog this place, You need to talk with folks who have been there..it is 1100 ACRES!!!! AND it is mostly rough terrain. It has 4-wheeler trails all through it and it is just beautiful.

I will tell folks, ((THE HUNT IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT)) these are wild hogs (98%) SOme of the hogs weer released as young ones and have gotten used to being turned down so they are not as skiddish as the rest.

I have been charged twice there and I know of others who have been as well by the hogs. No one has been seriously hurt..yet by the hogs...but it can happen.

I can promise you one thing..If you have never hunted with me at a place like this...You don't know what you are missing!!! One year, Dave Watson (Bushnell Outdoors) was there.. The Fitzgeralds were there, Uncle Ted...and others..I even got to hunt with Wally Dallenbach there..for all you racing fans..LOL

Anyway, I was thinking that the best time for this year would be between the 3rd week in March to the last day of April..It gets too warm in May and we need cooler weather...

So, anyone interested?? There are two lodges that will hold about 24 people each...

Like I said:

$545 for the hunt, food, lodging and guides for 3 days... you pay taxes and processing of the meat... There is taxidermy offered there and YOU DO NOT PAY FOR LICENSES!!!!

I think I can fit a few in the Explorer. Gear can go on the top or in a trailer.

Re: Tennessee Get together??

Norm.....man this sounds like just what I have been looking for. It all depends on when we plan it if I will be able to make it. And how the money is at the time. But I have been wanting to go on a hog hunt for awhile now and this sounds like it would be awesome. I might even have some buddies that would be interested. Lets do this! cool.gif

Re: Tennessee Get together??

I'm not going to make it this time, as I'm broke. But, the comraderie and good people make up for a fantastic weekend.

I remember the mountain of a hill on that place. I slipped on the way down and almost wore a hole in my butt...lol.

If I ever go again, I would hunt some of the other species.

Re: Tennessee Get together??

The dates so far are:

21-24 March and April 17-20. Either of those dates is fine..You will meet up with other folks I know from other forums...

Since there are not many folks who want to go and I want to at least fill up one lodge, we will combine with folks from the Bushnell Outdoors board as well..
