RICHMOND, Virginia (CNN) -- Shortly after entering a guilty plea Monday to a federal dogfighting conspiracy charge, suspended NFL quarterback Michael Vick apologized "for all the things that I've done and that I've allowed to happen."

In addition to making apologies to Atlanta Falcons teammates, his coach and the National Football League, Vick also said he was sorry "to all the young kids out there for my immature acts."

"What I did was very immature so that means I need to grow up," he said.

He said that he was "disappointed in myself" and that "dogfighting is a terrible thing and I ... reject it."

He said, "Through this situation I've found Jesus

He did "ax God for forgiveness and wants to make Michael Vick a better person" what a joke.

He did the only thing he could do, but is only sorry he got caught.

Wonder what his GPA was at VT?

I was off yesterday so I had the pleasure of watching that little apology speech live, and then about 476 more times on ESPN all through the afternoon. Very exciting.

I must admit I was a little surprised at how Vick came across. No note cards, looked the whole room and the camera in the eye the whole time and he took full responsibility several times. He owned it. I know that's a small consolation for what he had done but, most athletes would not have shoved their pride down their throat like Vick did there.

Is he sorry? No he isn't sorry. He's sorry he got caught, that's what he is sorry for. You can be sorry for a mistake you made once. This guy has been dogfighting and gambling all the way back to his college days. He was fully aware of what he was doing and what would happen if he ever got caught.

Instead of kicking him, why dont you pray for him?

That is what I am thinking. The guy came on national TV, threw his pride and ego out the window and apologized to everyone, including the kids that thought he was a role model. He said he takes responsibility for his actions. He realizes what he did was wrong and knows he is gonna spend some time in jail. I did not see him pointing fingers at other people and blaming it on them.

I will agree to a point. He did come on TV and seemed to speak from the heart and not some pre-rehearsed speech. He did say several things that sounded really good and sincere.

BUT.. he lied from the VERY beginning of this entire ordeal. And now that his world is crashing down around him I would expect he is going to say and do anything to win back some people. BUT again he LIED to EVERYONE from the very beginning, so I have trouble believing him this time. Hopefully he is a changed man and has learned from his mistakes.

Only time will tell.

I was surprised at how genuine he came across. That being said, its damage control 100%. He needed to go on record and make the best impression he could before he faces the judge. It was standard protocol for a guy in his shoes.

I think he deserves a little bit of credit for doing it, heck, he coulda went Lance Briggs and made it even worse for himself, but he didn't and I sorta commend him for the speech. It shouldn't lighten his sentence, but its commendable none-the-less.
