Slugger
well i bought my seed yesterday. 4#ladino 25#winter wheat and 50# 10-10-10. They were out of 20-20-20 so i might stop somewhere else b4 Sat. and pick up trip. 20 instead. I figured my plot size to be about 9,000 sq. ft. This is my first real attempt at a food plot so hope it goes well. Ill let you guys know and hopefully have some good pics soon.
wtnhunt
You will end up a bit heavy at that rate on the clover. Should only need 2-2.5 pounds for that size plot. I would put down a minimum of 75 lbs of 6-12-12 for a 1/5th acre. You do not need the higher nitrogen(first number) fertilizer, it will not do anything at all for the clovers as they make their own nitrogen. This time of year the higher first number will not hurt anything really, but spring and summer you want to avoid high nitrogen fertilizers as they will promote more potential weed growth. Slugger
Thanks for the tips. I was wanting to use Triple 20 and still might. Will 50lbs be too much. I know that the clover doesnt need any Nitrogen but figured the wheat would.
wtnhunt
If that is what you are going to use, 50lbs should be enough for that size plot.
