Bachflock
I'm planning on putting at least 3 in the books tomorrow! 3 ole fox squirrels that'll be so big the ground will shake when they come crashing down! LOL Ok... won't be counting any more (tree) chickens before they're hatched...
Bachflock
I'll make an unofficial entry. I got my 3 today! Two fox and a black - 12", 10", and 10". I don't have a digital camera so I'll get picture up as soon as I can. Get this. One of the fox and the black both had buttons at the end of the tail - like they had an injury and a little knot forms at the end - LOL! I'd probably had three 12". LOL
Turkeygirl
Congrats Bach! I got a black once...would love to get one again and mount it or something. One of the squirrels I got Sunday...it had a thick tail but like yours, was missing a big, I'd say 2-3 inches...the one that measured like 10 1/2"... Bachflock
You don't have many black squirrel in your area Ruth? They're all over here. Maybe I could live trap one and send it out your way! LOL The one's we have around here are the black phase of the gray squirrel. When I attended Michigan State Univ. there were black phase foxes on campus. Much prettier than the black phase of the grays in my opinion. Turkeygirl
There's alot of black squirrels around my college...my previous college, not the current one. I always seem them in more populated areas but in the woods, rarely. I would love to get a fox squirrel, black or otherwise.

dlriggins
this one was taken on the first day of a three day hunt with no camera so I had to skin it so the meat wouldn't go bad
Tominator
this one was taken on the first day of a three day hunt with no camera so I had to skin it so the meat wouldn't go bad You need to make those pics bigger bud. I can't tell how long the tails are because I can't see the tape measure numbers.
M00N
I'll make an unofficial entry. I got my 3 today! Two fox and a black - 12", 10", and 10". I don't have a digital camera so I'll get picture up as soon as I can. Get this. One of the fox and the black both had buttons at the end of the tail - like they had an injury and a little knot forms at the end - LOL! I'd probably had three 12". LOL Congratulations teammate! I can't wait to see the pictures, especially of that black squirrel. They are rather rare around here. There's a few up at my deer hunting spot, though, but they are tricky things to get a shot at, very skiddish. I always wanted to get one mounted someday. My squirrel season is growing closer, wish I could go out hunting them right now though. Good luck everyone and congratulations to everyone who's shot some tree rats so far! Bachflock
Black squirrels... Sorry Moon, I only took a picture of the tails. It was the best looking black squirrel I'd seen in awhile to. However, I'll get some more and post some pictures.
Hardwood_HD
i got another!! a big fox this time.. not quite as big as the one i got last yr but it works.. 13" tail
Bachflock
Hey Hardwood - do you also measure a board diagonal before you cut it?! LOL :D:D I'll put another unofficial, squarely measured, 12" gray in the books. Pictures in a few days of the first three. I dropped the pictures off for development today. They'll be back Wednesday or Thursday. When I've been taking my pics I've tried to show you the end of the tape right up against the squirrel and the end of the hairs on the far end of the tape. I hope it turns out - trying to get a true measurement.
