WaCoyote
Went out for the opener yesterday and liked what I saw. The Ruffles werent as thick as last year but the were definately there. While driving up to our spot I saw a young bird sneak into a snow berry patch. I loaded up and walked over to the spot and a whole covey flushed. I got all confused and missed. Early in the season I always seem to forget they run in packs but the rust wore off quickly. We got up the the skid trail covered with Red Alder and got into another covey. Sleused two of them but missed a third. Later on saw a big male sneak into some brush and got up on him and sleused him when he flushed. All in all we saw 12 Ruffles and 5 Turkeys. Along with the usual Bear, Elk, and Moose sign. My 10 year old thinks hunting "is the bomb" as they say. Anyways looks like another good season this year, can't wait to get out again.
