revhard
Revhard Virginia.. and we can only enter "one" deer? What if our state allows us more than one buck, and we kill a bigger bUck after we enter the smaller?
brad dryden
If you shoot a smaller buck then later in the season you shoot a bigger one you can take the bigger one and use it for the contest same if you shoot a doe then later shoot a buck but you can only enter one deer becouse some states have a one buck limit just to make things fair. brad dryden
I was thinking a little what does everyone think about if no one from one state signs up just one should we allow that person to shoot up to 2 deer or maybe shoot for each hunter the highest team members their are in a group. Lets say everyone one has 3 people in a group should we allow for that one person if possable by their state legal limit beable to shoot 3 deer or could allow them if they want just be in their own group and try it with one deer rule? rhine16
Rhine16 Mississippi As for the above statement about if a state only has one team member, I think that that would be somewhat unfair because what if there is just one guy in a state with only one tag? This whole contest has a lot of questions in it. Just my 2 cents, but i would set the rules to where each state has 3 entries. Whether that means (hypothetically) Illinois had 10 members and entered their top three deer, or Alabama had one and that one guy entered his top three (or how many ever he killed. I mean it's kinda obvious what states will come out on top, but it could still be fun and in my opinion would be much smoother. Just my opinion. Thanks for the imput, also I was thinking I want everyone who has entered be able to participate so what may happen if we dont have enought people to put at least 2 or 3 people from each state in a group I will make this a region group hunt instead on a state hunt. Also this thing will take some time to fix the little things here and their but it will take everyones imput. Whats your alls opinion on this? http://www.brownfields.com/images/USA_Regions_01.gif

Texan_Til_I_Die
If I were setting it up, I'd stick to the state team concept as much as possible, and then combine entries from those states that did not have enough sign-ups into one or more teams. I would try to group those entries with others from nearby states as much as possible, but even if it means putting people from Florida and Montana on the same team, I'd rather see that than have people get left out. Here's a place to start: Determine which state has the most entries Use that number as the maximum team size OR If there are enough from that state to divide into more than one team, split them into 2 (or more) teams and that will be the team size. Another way would be to calculate the average number of entries per state and use that as the team size. All states with more than the average would get split, and those with less would get combined. And yet another way would be to determine which state had the fewest number of entries (wouldn't work well if some state only has 1) and make that the team size. OR make that the number of entries that count for each state and go ahead and leave everyone in their state's team. Some teams might have 10 people, but only the top 3 (or whatever the number of the smallest team is) entries will count.
